WAN-IFRA’s 19th Asian Media Awards (AMA) aim to promote the highest publishing standards in the fields of newspaper and magazine design, infographics, editorial content, marketing, community service and photojournalism.

Hundreds of newspapers and magazines in Asia Pacific, South Asia and Middle-East have taken part in the competition over the last seventeen years, establishing the AMA as the most prestigious recognition of excellence for the news publishing industry in the region.

Registration opens on 1 December 2019 for entries published in 2019. Start shortlisting potential projects to submit - you may have more eligible entries that you think! Registration closes on 17 January 2020!

Don't wait till the last minute to submit your entries! A well-prepared entry will have a higher chance of making into the AMA Hall of Fame!


All prize winners will be granted the exclusive usage of a special icon illustrative of their achievement and representing – for each category – the gold, silver and bronze awards. Winners will be entitled to display this distinctive WAN-IFRA recognition of excellence in their publication as well as in all their corporate communications or marketing materials.


  • Best in Design

    This award will be presented to entries whose overall design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of recognition.

  • Best in Editorial Content

    This award recognizes articles published in a newspaper that demonstrate high standards of reporting.

  • Best in Infographics

    This award aims to recognize excellence in design, usefulness and clarity of information conveyed in both breaking and non-breaking news.

  • Best in Photojournalism

    This award is open to newspaper and wire service photographers as well as to freelancers working for these media, supplying work to either news, sports or feature agencies or providing content for websites affiliated with newspaper.

  • Best Newspaper Marketing

    This award will recognize successful campaigns for marketing the news publishing company’s brand or image to readers in order to increase circulation and subscriptions to the print product and the overall media brand awareness.

  • Best in Community Service

    This award measures how companies goes beyond their traditional roles of educating and entertaining readers to become an active player in leading and implementing social service campaigns for the benefit of the community it serves.


Key Participation Dates

01 Dec 2019: Registration opens
17 Jan 2020: Registration closes and last day of entries submission for editorial content, infographics, photojournalism, newspaper marketing and community service
20 Jan 2020: Last day for entries submission for Best in Design
24 Jan to 02 Feb 2020: Jury evaluation
07 Feb 2020: Winners notified
Winners announced during Asian Media Leaders Summit online on 30 June
