Journalism and Communications Consultant

Kevin Anderson is an international journalism and communications consultant with more than 15 years of global digital journalism experience. His clients have included Al Jazeera, India's Network18, Reed Business Information, CNN International and Trinity-Mirror. From 2014 to 2015, he was a regional executive editor with Gannett, the larger newspaper publisher in the US. From 2006 to 2010, he held a number of digital leadership positions with The Guardian, and from 1998 to 2006, he worked for the BBC, including more than six years as the BBC’s first online correspondent outside of the U.K.

Google News Lab Lead, APAC

Irene Jay Liu leads Google News Lab in the Asia-Pacific region. She was previously an investigative reporter and data editor at Reuters, where she was a 2017 Pulitzer finalist in the national reporting category. Earlier, she worked at the South China Morning Post and as a political reporter with the Times Union in Albany, New York.  She teaches data-driven investigative journalism at the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Interactive Graphics Journalist, The Straits Times

As an interactive graphics journalist at The Straits Times, Rebecca is part of a team of designers and developers who are pushing the boundaries of digital journalism - from data visualisation to virtual reality - anything is possible.   While studying journalism back in Australia, she voluntarily worked on various data projects for Sydney’s flagship newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald. After moving to Singapore in 2013, she worked in digital publishing before joining the ST Digital desk in 2015.

President, Society of News Design

A design and journalism consultant and researcher, Sara Quinn holds the R.M. Seaton Endowed Chair at Kansas State University. She is an affiliate faculty member for The Poynter Institute where she taught full time for more than a decade. She is vice president for the Society for News Design and director of large-scale eyetracking research for Poynter on newspaper, tablet and online reading habits which has been presented in newsrooms and at universities around the world.
