Colegio del Cuerpo Ballet Company: ¡NEGRA! ANGER!

The Colegio del Cuerpo (ECDC) was founded in 1997 in Cartagena de Indias by Masters Alvaro Restrepo (Colombia) and Marie France Delieuvin (France), and has become one of the pioneering proposals in arts education in Colombia and worldwide. Through its training activities, research and creation initiatives and awareness campaigns, the ECDC has contributed to the artistic, professional and human development of 8,300 children and youth from vulnerable populations in the city, who have integrated its ranks and programmes.

The piece ¡NEGRA! ANGER! stems from a show El Colegio del Cuerpo performed at an event of for a Local Anti-Racism Observatory (ODAR). The music for this show is from the great singer, pianist and African-American rights defender, Nina Simone. Her extraordinary and tragic life, the intensity of her commitment, pain and suffering that fueled her existence, are present in her voice and piano.
