  • Dr. rer. nat., Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at NTNU, Norway

    Kerstin Bach (Dr. rer. nat. from University of Hildesheim, Germany) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at NTNU. Her research interests are intelligent decision support systems, data analysis and knowledge-based systems, particularly case-based reasoning.  She teaches machine learning and advanced knowledge-based methods at NTNU and supervises students in the field since 2007. Her genuine interest in machine learning techniques and their application lead into participation in various EU and industry funded projects at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence as well as NTNU. Currently, among other research activities, she is the project manager of the selfBACK EU project that develops an eHealth application for low back pain patients. She enjoys discussing AI methodologies and applications with fellow researchers, but more importantly teaching it to students and bringing it into multidisciplinary projects and thereby shaping the new digital world.

    Hannah is Open Innovation Director for the media agency MEC. Here she is responsible for helping the agency and its clients to collaborate and partner with start-ups and early stage technology in addition to harnessing a more entrepreneurial culture within the organisation. Prior to this she ran BBC Worldwide Labs, BBC Worldwide’s award winning start-up accelerator. Hannah is experienced in identifying and forging commercial partnerships for a number of large organisations and digital media start-ups, which means she has insider knowledge of how young companies can scale and grow through a networked model and how established organisations can adopt new, innovative ways of working. Hannah has a unique ability to quickly understand start-up business models and translate them for the corporate world, enabling two very different companies to work closely together and collaborate on profitable, long-term partnerships.

    A partner in Davis, Cooke Media, Murdoch has worked in news media for 40 years, in roles from reporter, feature writer up to editor-in-chief, editorial VP and President & Publisher of large media houses. Most recently he was Executive Editor of the Toronto Star for five years until relocating to the USA for personal reasons. From there he has worked as a consultant and contractor for media in Canada and USA.

De 1999 à 2001, elle a été porte-parole du ministère des Affaires sociales et de la Santé et vice-président de la société d'assurance Varma de 2002 à 2009.

    Johannes Hauner, born 1983, is Head of Marketing Digital Products of Germany’s biggest quality newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. Before, he served as Assistant to SZ’s Publishing Director (trainee) and studied Economics.

    Expertise in strategy creation, business and product development, turn-around projects or creating new business in upcoming areas. Strong background in scaling and streamlining efficient set-ups in terms of organisation, solutions and product portfolios and delivering despite very limited resources.

    For the last 9+ years I have also had an international focus managing global teams and projects, driving change and digital transformation in very demanding environments with both cultural layers and complex matrix organisations. 

    My main focus in recent years has been on digital media in Latin America, as well as the Nordics, Europe and Russia. I have experience establishing off-shore development and support teams in India, and long experience from global partnerships and contracts covering everything from content rights/services to tech infrastructure.

Previously, Sophie worked as a correspondent in Mexico City, where she covered news from the US border to southern Chile. She started her career in radio and television at the BBC in London.

Currently, Tor is at the University of Cambridge, where he is finishing his PhD in Economics and Strategic Leadership focusing on “big data” analytics implications for business model innovation and leadership practice in the publishing industry.

    Tamilavel is the News Editor and Digital Editor for Tamil Murasu, the Tamil language daily in Singapore. He joined Tamil Murasu in 2008 and since then has reported on various topics ranging from politics to community issues, sports, entertainment, crime, etc. He has covered regional and international news, including major international events such as the Trump-Kim Summit, ASEAN Summit and the Formula One race. As the Digital Editor, he was instrumental in revamping the paper's website early this year and continues to look after the digital transformation of the newsroom and the journalists. He has an Advanced Diploma in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelors degree in Digital Media.

    Maria Å Lindvall is the product manager of ”Curate”, a part of Schibsted Media platform that enables the largest publications in Sweden and Norway to automate and personalize editorial content on their front pages. The Curate team consists of developers, UX researchers, journalists and data scientists, collaborating to make sure the different publications can fulfill the journalistic mission as well as deliver on business needs and user needs. Before joining Curate, Maria Å Lindvall was the product manager of Omni, carrying out four curated news apps in Sweden and Norway. She has as background as a journalist, and has been the front page online editor of all the four largest news publications in Sweden.

    John Abayomi is the Editor Online of Punch newspaper where he oversees editorial content on the web, mobile, newsletter and social media. He is involved in audience engagement, search engine optimisation and video strategy of Nigeria's most widely read newspaper. He has been part of the growth of as the news site of choice for digital content in the country. He holds a master's degree in New Media & Society from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.

    Zaffar Abbas is the Editor of Dawn, Pakistan's oldest and most prestigious English language newspaper. He has been a journalist for 37 years and has worked for a number of national and international news organisations, including 16 years for the BBC as one of its Pakistan correspondents.

    Mr. Abbas is a keen follower of the Pakistani and regional politics, has covered the civil war in Afghanistan from the days of the Soviet occupation. The last few years have been mostly dedicated to reporting and analyzing the rise in religious extremism and terrorism in Pakistan, the tricky peace process between India and Pakistan, as well as the complicated political developments in the country.
    Because of his bold and objective coverage of armed militancy in the country he twice faced the wrath of different militant groups in the past, but luckily survived with non-fatal injuries.
    Mr. Abbas is a strong advocate for ethical journalism in Pakistan, and has long been campaigning for creating a safe environment for working journalists in the country.

    Ms. Abdalla is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with an MA in Mass Communications and a BA in Radio & Television.
