  • Teaching Fellow, Google News Initiative

    Samya Ayish is a Google News Initiative teaching fellow in the MENA region. Before joining Google, Samya worked as an online video and social media producer at CNN Arabic in Dubai, covering entertainment and cinema, and specializing in the Arab film industry. Samya focuses on visual storytelling in her work, creating ways to promote news stories across different digital platforms.
  • Dr. rer. nat., Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at NTNU, Norway

    Kerstin Bach (Dr. rer. nat. from University of Hildesheim, Germany) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at NTNU. Her research interests are intelligent decision support systems, data analysis and knowledge-based systems, particularly case-based reasoning.  She teaches machine learning and advanced knowledge-based methods at NTNU and supervises students in the field since 2007. Her genuine interest in machine learning techniques and their application lead into participation in various EU and industry funded projects at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence as well as NTNU. Currently, among other research activities, she is the project manager of the selfBACK EU project that develops an eHealth application for low back pain patients. She enjoys discussing AI methodologies and applications with fellow researchers, but more importantly teaching it to students and bringing it into multidisciplinary projects and thereby shaping the new digital world.

  • Academic Coordinator of IDEAR - Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory, PUCRS, Brazil

    Ana Cecília Bisso Nunes is an assistant professor of entrepreneurial journalism and media innovation at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in Brazil, where she also plays a role as academic coordinator of the entrepreneurship lab Idear. For the past four years, she has been researching media labs as part of her PhD, a joint degree between PUCRS and University of Beira Interior (UBI). Her thesis counts with a partnership with the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) through the Global Alliance for Media Innovation (GAMI) and was partially funded by a Brazilian scholarship (CAPES/PDSE 2018-01). She has previous academic experiences in Portugal, the UK, Germany and Norway. In a commercial setting, she has experience as a media product manager for web and mobile products. She was distinguished two times in Brazilian educational awards for her work on interdisciplinary entrepreneurship in higher education.

    Ana Cecília Bisso Nunes é professora assistente de jornalismo empreendedor e inovação em mídia na Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) no Brasil, onde também atua como coordenadora acadêmica do laboratório de empreendedorismo Idear. Nos últimos quatro anos, pesquisa laboratórios de mídia como parte de seu doutorado, um diploma conjunto entre a PUCRS e a Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI). Sua tese conta com uma parceria com a Associação Mundial de Editores de Notícias (WAN-IFRA) através da Aliança Global para Inovação em Mídia (GAMI) e foi parcialmente financiada por uma bolsa de estudos brasileira (CAPES / PDSE 2018-01). Ana já teve experiências acadêmicas anteriores em Portugal, Reino Unido, Alemanha e Noruega. Em um ambiente comercial, ela tem experiência como líder de produtos de mídia para produtos da web e móveis. Foi distinguida duas vezes em prêmios educacionais brasileiros por seu trabalho em empreendedorismo interdisciplinar no ensino superior.

Here she is responsible for helping the agency and its clients to collaborate and partner with start-ups and early stage technology in addition to harnessing a more entrepreneurial culture within the organisation. Prior to this she ran BBC Worldwide Labs, BBC Worldwide’s award winning start-up accelerator. Hannah is experienced in identifying and forging commercial partnerships for a number of large organisations and digital media start-ups, which means she has insider knowledge of how young companies can scale and grow through a networked model and how established organisations can adopt new, innovative ways of working. Hannah has a unique ability to quickly understand start-up business models and translate them for the corporate world, enabling two very different companies to work closely together and collaborate on profitable, long-term partnerships.

From there he has worked as a consultant and contractor for media in Canada and USA.

One of Cuonda's productions, The Three Deaths of my father, received in 2018 an "Ondas" Award and on the same year it was regarded the Best podcast of the year by Apple. Ana has been also a Partner at Prodigioso Volcan, a consulting firm focused on communication strategies where she has led Digital Transformation projects for clients such as El País, Diario de Cuba or El Universal (Mexico). Ana obtained a BA at University of Navarra, and has been a Visiting Scholar for the Science Technolgy and Society Programme at Stanford University, and a Fellow at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism (CUNY). She is also an Associate professor for Entrepreneurial journalism at the University of San Pablo CEU (Madrid) while leads the Spanish chapter of Hacks & Hackers in Madrid.
