Rupa Jha is a highly driven creative media executive and editorial leader with more than twenty years’ experience of working for the BBC, in India, The UK and Nigeria. As BBC Head of India since 2016, she is building and leading the BBC’s strategically important language operation in India, which has been one of the biggest growth stories in the entire organization. She also led Nepali, Indonesia, Sinhala and Bengali services . She championed the transformation of Indian operation into the highest performing language team in the BBC. She was awarded the BBC’s “leader of the year” prize for her achievements. She is also recipient of the 2021 Poynter Institute executive fellowship; media transformation challenge. She is recipient of various awards for her journalistic work.
