    Azrul Ananda, the President of PT Jawa Pos Group, Indonesia’s leading newspaper group which includes over 180 publications and 20 local TV channels spread all over the country. Ananda started at Jawa Pos in 2000 when he created the paper’s daily youth section Deteksi. He then moved from desk to desk, occupying responsibilities at the City section, entertainment section and Front page desk while regularly contributing to the paper with his sports reporting and feature stories. After occupying the position of Managing Editor, Ananda became Chief Editor in 2005. He moved from editorial to management responsibilities in 2007 when he was appointed Vice Director of Sales and Distribution. He was Vice Director of Advertising and Chief Operating Officer before reaching his present position.

    Kevin Anderson is an international journalism and communications consultant with more than 15 years of global digital journalism experience. His clients have included Al Jazeera, India's Network18, Reed Business Information, CNN International and Trinity-Mirror. From 2014 to 2015, he was a regional executive editor with Gannett, the larger newspaper publisher in the US. From 2006 to 2010, he held a number of digital leadership positions with The Guardian, and from 1998 to 2006, he worked for the BBC, including more than six years as the BBC’s first online correspondent outside of the U.K.

    Vasantha Angamuthu has 30 years experience in media and communications and is the Chief Strategy Officer at Independent Media South Africa. Her role includes organisational development, product development across print, digital and onground and supporting the leadership team in the development of audience, product and revenue strategies. She also launched and heads up Studio Independent, a branded content agency within Independent Media.

    She started her professional life as a political journalist and covered South Africa's transition to democracy including the country's first democratic elections; the constitution-writing process and President Nelson Mandela's time in office.   She left journalism to head the communications unit of the City of Durban, elevating the unit from a PR and media buying unit to a strategic communications unit with a Paid, Owned and Earned (PEO) developmental marketing strategy. In 2007 Vasantha joined Hindustan Times Media in New Delhi as Vice President: Content and Product Development, a role that bridged marketing and editorial. In her five years at HT Media, she launched or redesigned a number of print products, drove the implementation of community and niche print products and conceptualised and launched a number of events.

    Darren Ansell

    Darren Ansell has been the Space and Aerospace Engineering Lead in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Central Lancashire since September 2012. At UCLAN Darren is leading a number of collaborative research projects with industry partners, including the 'GAMMA' Growing Autonomous Mission Management Applications programme, developing autonomous, intelligent software for the aerospace and nuclear industries.

    His research interests include autonomous and intelligent systems and he previously worked in industry at BAE Systems in research management and research and development roles, specialising in Mission Systems and Autonomy. At BAE Systems he was the Engineering lead for the ASTRAEA programme which developed UAV technology to support the integration of unmanned platforms into UK airspace, where he led the development of 'Sense and Avoid' collision avoidance technology, autonomy and decision making software and image processing research.

    Scott D. Anthony is the Managing Partner of Innosight. Based in the firm’s Singapore offices since 2010, he has led Innosight’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific region as well as its venture capital activities (Innosight Ventures).

    In his decade with Innosight, Scott has advised senior leaders in companies such as Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Singtel, Kraft, General Electric, LG, the Ayala Group, and Cisco Systems on topics of growth and innovation. He has extensive experience in emerging markets, particularly in India, China, and the Philippines.
    Scott is one of Harvard Business Review’s most prolific contributors and is the coauthor of the book Dual Transformation (Spring 2017). He was the co-author of the HBR  article “Build an Innovation Engine in 90 Days” as well as dozens of digital articles for the magazine.

    Scott’s previous books are The First Mile: A Launch Manual for Getting Great Ideas Into the Market. Seeing What’s Next: Using the Theories of Innovation to Predict Industry Change (with Innosight co-founder and Harvard Professor Clayton Christensen); The Innovator’s Guide to Growth: Putting Disruptive Innovation to Work; The Silver Lining: An Innovation Playbook for Uncertain Times; The Little Black Book of Innovation: How It Works, How to Do It; and Building a Growth Factory. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles on innovation and strategy for a variety of publications. He was a finalist for the 2015 Thinkers50 Innovation Award.

    Ezequiel Arbusti is a specialist in online audience development, digital content creation and planning for websites and Social Media for media and brands.     Justin Arenstein is a veteran South African investigative journalist and media entrepreneur. He is founder of Code4Africa and is behind impactAFRICA, the continent’s largest fund for data-driven storytelling.

    He is an internationally recognised expert in data-driven journalism and related new media technologies. Arenstein co-founded the pioneering independent news wire agency African Eye News Service (AENS). AENS and Arenstein have received a string of international awards for their investigative exposés into government corruption and social justice issues. This includes the Knight International Journalism Award in 2000. Arenstein was also a 2009-2010 ICFJ Knight Fellow at Stanford University, where he explored social network analysis strategies for investigative journalism, as well as strategies to help independent grassroots media in Africa exploit the mobile web.

    He serves as a consulting strategist on journalistic innovation for Google, and on the boards of a number of media industry entities and related press freedom bodies. He is a former member of the Press Council of South Africa, where he helped reform the Press Code and its press oversight mechanisms.

    Chris Arsenault

He has also been part of the jury at Young Lions, DIENTE and Effies. Since 2015 he serves as a member of Executive Committee of INTERACT (Argentine Union of Digital Agencies).

    Astrid Ascar has 25 years’ experience working in the media industry across radio, television, print and digital platforms. She began her career as a journalist, working as a reporter, producer and presenter in current affairs, news and entertainment. In 1999 Astrid made the transition to management, and has over the years launched two TV channels, as well as radio and digital content businesses for some of South Africa’s leading media groups.

    Astrid has held editorial and operational management positions and has worked with a range of SA-based media brands including Times Media Limited, BDFM, Naspers, Multichoice, CNBC Africa, and the SABC.

    She has been running her own media, marketing and content consultancy for the past seven years, and regularly gives talks and facilitates workshops, conferences and training sessions for her clients – these range from digital media integration strategy sessions to media skills.

    The core focus of her current work is to assist her clients in getting to grips with how to leverage digital media and marketing platforms, and how to integrate these into traditional businesses, practises and approaches. She crafts digital strategies, and assists with implementation, including the conceptualisation, production and distribution of content.

    Astrid is particularly passionate about training and education, and volunteers as the Head of Education for the IAB SA (Interactive Advertising Bureau SA), the organisation that represents the digital marketing, advertising and media industry in South Africa.

    Gunilla Asker, CEO of the Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) since 2009, has been responsible for developing and implementing SvD's multichannel strategy, which aims to meet the new market and business needs that the digital development implies. She first entered the media sector in 2005, joining SvD as Marketing and Sales Director. 

     After graduating from Uppsala University in 1988 with an International MBA, Asker joined Unilever as a trainee and then spent 13 years with them working in the areas of strategy, branding, marketing and sales. She was later Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Communications at SJ AB (Swedish Rail) before becoming Division Manager of Custom Research at Research International.

He's held positions as editor and editor-in-chief of a number of online properties including SVT.se, Koll.se, Passagen.se and Bonnier Net. Aspegren has been with Aftonbladet, Sweden's largest online news publication, since 2007, where he's worked in various roles within business development and site management.

Her keen interest in all things digital led to her graduating with a Masters Degree in New Media and Journalism. Atagana is currently pursuing her PHD with a focus on the impact of social media and journalism. Her research focuses on the Kenyan Westgate shootings and how Twitter was used as the primary source of news and communication. Her professional career has included her role as Editor of Burn Media, a multimedia digital publishing house which focuses on the intersection of technology and media, and entrepreneurship. An expert on Africa’s tech and startup scene, Atagana is currently the Head of Communications & Public Affairs for Google South Africa.
