    Selected as a Fulbright Scholar, Lisa-Maria studied Communication Technologies & Diplomacy at the Georgetown University, Washington DC, holds a B.A. in Communication Science from the Ludwig-Maxmilians-University, Munich, and a Master degree in Social Science of the Internet from the Oxford Internet Institute.

    Lisa-Maria has worked in various fields in the (digital) communications sector including radio & broadcast news journalism (ARD), communication consulting (Allianz Singapore) and Marketing (Coca-Cola, BBDO). She has conducted research at SDA Bocconi, Milan, the National University of Singapore and Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich.

    Nic Newman is Research Associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism where he  writes on the future of digital media. He is lead author of the Digital News Report the world's biggest and most authoritative survey of changing news consumption and was joint author of a recent report on the Future of Online Video.

    Nic was a founding member of the BBC News Website, leading international coverage as World Editor (1997-2001). As Head of Product Development and then Future Media Controller for BBC News (2001-10), he helped introduce innovations such as blogs, podcasting and on-demand video. He works on digital, product and engagement strategies for a wide range of media companies across Europe.

    Peter Newton is chief revenue officer of GateHouse Media, in addition to his current role as CEO of Propel Business Services, Inc. Newton joined GateHouse Media in 2012 to lead Propel Marketing, the Company’s digital marketing services agency. In 2015, Newton was promoted to CEO of Propel Business Services, which includes Propel Marketing; BestRide, the Company’s national automotive platform; AdUs, the Company’s digital agency in Las Vegas; and, a recent addition, Propel Business Capital, a small business lending venture. Propel Business Services continues to actively evaluate other investment opportunities.

    Prior to GateHouse Media, Newton’s background included significant leadership experience in both traditional media and the digital space, with a particular focus on SMB products and services. Newton served as VP of Sales at The Boston Globe, President of its niche employment business, BostonWorks; and SVP and GM of Monster’s small and medium business segment.

    Fai-keung Ng is a digital marketing and analytics leader with over 14 years of global work experience in the US, Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany. He’s joined AT Internet since 2014, where he manages and executes the Southeast Asia business plan with full responsibilities of Sales, Consulting, Marketing, Operations, HR, Legal, etc. for the region. At the global level, Fai is one of the key members of the product committee driving AT Internet’s product development. Before joining AT Internet, he worked with Yahoo for 8+ years and was one of the early practitioners of performance marketing, having launched the sponsored search solution for Yahoo’s international markets in EMEA and APAC from 2005-2008. After moving to Singapore, his responsibilities spread across all facets of Yahoo’s business in Southeast Asia.

     A practitioner of fifteen years in audio/visual media and journalism, his knowledge and experience expanded into digital consumer marketing and social media through the diverse roles he has held. Currently, Jonathan leads a team of young and dynamic multimedia video producers as the Editor of SPH Razor. His team is responsible for producing a wide variety of online videos, ranging from lifestyle to commercial content, distributed across the SPH Video Network and social media.
  • Chief Content Officer, Star Media Group Berhad

    Esther Ng joined the then Star Publications Berhad in June 1992 as a news reporter after leaving Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. As part of The Star's court and legal affairs team, the journalism graduate covered many important trials in her five-year tenure. During that time, she was also in the Parliament beat, leading the team until the 2000s. She returned to general news after leaving court reporting, covering mainly Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister assignments locally and abroad, as well as political assignments. 

    Esther was made Senior Writer in 1999 and moved up the ranks to Chief Reporter, Assistant and Deputy News Editor. She was made News Editor in 2010, which saw her taking charge of the main desk – the largest and most dynamic desk in The Star. During that time, she spearheaded the KPI system, still in use today, for the department. She was then appointed Sunday Star Editor in 2015 where she led the revamping of the edition, making use of her vast experience in news. Until June 2018, she took on the role of Executive Editor before replacing the Editor-in-Chief as Star Media Group’s first Chief Content Officer, a title the company is pioneering in Malaysia in line with the group’s ongoing transformation effort.

    Joe Nguyen is Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific at comScore, a leading cross-platform measurement company that measures audiences, brands and consumer behaviour everywhere.

    With more than 20 years in the online analytics and media industries in the Asia Pacific region, Joe has experience in panel-based audience measurement as well as advanced data analytics on the user and vendor sides. He actively contributes to key digital, media and technology conferences and publications across the region. In addition, he is the co-founder of iamWednesday Singapore, and is currently on the Interactive Advertising Bureau Singapore leadership council and Mobile Marketing Association Asia Pacific board of directors.

    Prior to comScore, Joe was the Southeast Asia regional manager for Omniture where he successfully delivered its product suites across diverse industries. He previously served as the director of global e-commerce at Millennium & Copthorne Hotels where he grew global online sales by 50 percent.

    Joe holds a BSE degree in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University. He was born in Vietnam and emigrated to the United States after spending a year in a Malaysian refugee camp.

    Lindsay holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics with Economics (1st Class) from the University of Southampton. She is proficient in multiple coding languages including R and SQL.

    Dr Rasmus Kleis Nielsen is Director at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and serves as Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Press/Politics.

    His work focuses on changes in the news media, on political communication, and the role of digital technologies in both. He has done extensive research on journalism, American politics, and various forms of activism, and a significant amount of comparative work in Western Europe and beyond.

    Trine Nielsen, Director of Education and Research at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. Trine has 20 years of experience from the Danish Media Industry with a specialization in conducting major change processes, from focus on the influence of technology to the actually impact on the strategic, tactical and operational level. In addition, Trine has written several books on Innovation and Business development.

    Kaius Niemi began his journalistic career as a television and radio reporter at the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE in the 1990s. Later he worked as a reporter at the television channel Nelonen (Channel Four Finland). In 1998 Niemi moved to Helsingin Sanomat where he was a staff writer at the Foreign Desk for six years. In 2005 Niemi became the City Editor of the Helsingin Sanomat City and Metropolitan News Desk. Two years later he was appointed Managing Editor of the newspaper. Since 2010 Kaius Niemi has worked as Editor-in-Chief of Ilta-Sanomat where his main focus is the digital content and its development. Kaius Niemi was appointed Senior Editor-in-Chief of Helsingin Sanomat September 2013.

    George is the founder and CEO of NIMEH & Partners, the agency for changing times.
    Founded in 2016, NIMEH & Partners combines strategy, innovation, content marketing,
    research and product development for businesses seeking to succeed in modern times.
    George Nimeh is a proven digital entrepreneur with over 20 years experience within the
    media, marketing and communication industries both in Europe and in the USA.
    His 2015 TEDx Vienna talk “What if there was no advertising” has been very well received.
    In 2015, George won the first INMA Scholarship at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership
    and is currently enrolled in the school’s eMBA program. In September, he resigned from his
    role as Chief Digital Officer at KURIER to found Nimeh & Partners GmbH. In February,
    Google announced that NewsGenie, a millennial media project from NIMEH & Partners,
    would received funding as part of the European-wide Digital News Initiative.
    George served 4 years as the Chief Digital Officer at KURIER, a leading Austrian media
    company. There, he led the strategy and directed teams that successfully redesigned the
    entire digital business. He and his team finished in second place (behind the Guardian) at
    WAN-IFRA’s European Digital Media Awards for the “Best News Website” in 2014. In 2015,
    KURIER won first place in the WAN-IFRA World Digital Media Awards for "Best Digital
    Advertising Campaign 2015".
    Earlier in his career, George helped to market and launch and Chase
    Manhattan Bank's first online banking service. He was the first employee at, a
    highly successful CBS-backed startup which sold to for $480M. As Digital Director
    and Editor-in-Chief at Red Bull, he created event and athlete sites whilst working on the
    brand’s first dotcom and social networking projects. As founder of iris Digital and a partner
    of iris Worldwide, he grew the business from nought to over £10M/year and 120 people in
    offices around the world.
    George writes for “Horizont” and “Werbeplanung Magazine” and is a sought-after speaker
    at events including TEDx, WAN-IFRA, INMA, Werbeplanung Summit, Google Think
    Publishing, and many others. George lectures at the University of Vienna’s and at the
    FHWien University of Applied Sciences. He is happily married, the proud father of two lovely
    girls, skis deep powder, and tweets a lot, too

    Anna Nimiriano Nunu Siya is a veteran South Sudanese journalist with more than fifteen years of experience in print and broadcast journalism.

    Besides being one of the founders of Juba Monitor, a daily English publication, Anna currently serves as the Editor In Chief of the Juba Monitor and has previously worked for the now-defunct Khartoum Monitor as Editorial Director and subsequently Managing Editor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from college of Community Studies and Rural Development, University of Juba and a Diploma in Theology, Institute of Theology for the Laity.

    Anna has attended several local and international media training workshops in Kenya, Uganda, Washington DC, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Tanzania, China and India. She is a member of the National Editors’ Forum in South Sudan.

    Anna Nimiriano Nunu Siya is a career South Sudanese journalist with more than fifteen years wealth of experience in print and broadcast journalism. She is one of the founders of Juba Monitor, a daily English publication and currently serves as the Editor In Chief of the paper and previously worked for the defunct Khartoum Monitor as Editorial Director and subsequently Managing Editor. She was recently named the 2019 Africa Laureate for the WAN-IFRA Women in News Editorial Leadership Awards. This Award was given in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the newsroom, editorial integrity, and outstanding leadership.

    Pål Nisja-Wilhelmsen is Nettavisen’s head of business development and innovation. Nettavisen is Norways only digital-first national news source with visitors across all of Norway. Pål is a true digital pioneer with experience starting a dotcom-company, working in the advertising industry and over 20 years kickstarting everything from the first online classified in Norway, the first dating site and community, online magazines and working with the first norwegian blogs. Påls session will center around Netavisen’s innovative approach to utilize cross-market collaboration to battle the duopoly dependency.

    Jukka Niva is the Head of Media Lab at Yle News & Current Affairs. He is responsible for the unit that develops new forms of journalism, new services and programs at Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company). Jukka will be a three-month visiting fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC in summer 2018, focusing on how political power is used in the digital society and how that affects news media.He served previously as the Yle News Acting Editor-in-chief, Head of Business News Desk, TV1 Business News host, TV1 morning show host, and foreign news reporter covering all topics and especially Iran.

    Mai Noman is the Digital Content Editor for BBC Arabic. She is responsible for leading digital video content aimed at reaching young and female audiences. Before joining BBC Arabic, Mai worked as a Senior Journalist with the BBC’s World Service Digital Development team tasked with overseeing the digital transformation of the BBC’s 40 different language services. She assisted journalists in Africa, Asia and the Middle East set digital strategies and create creative visual content. Prior to that Mai was a video journalist with experience in finding innovative ways of telling complex stories.

    Anette Novak is the former CEO of Rise Interactive, a Swedish ICT and design research institute focusing on interaction design and UX. Novak is also a member of the Tinius Trust Board of Directors since April 2017, vice president of Fojo Media institute and former board member of the World Editors Forum. In 2015-2016 she led a Media Policy Inquiry on behalf of the Swedish Government. She has a solid background from different managerial positions within the media sector. Until 2012, she was editor-in-chief of the regional media house Norran, where she attracted global attention for having launched collaborative journalism.
