    Marco Túlio Pires is the Google News Lab Lead for Brazil. He studied Electrical Engineering and Journalism in Brazil, and Computer Science and Business in the US. He worked as News Program Coordinator for Globo TV, and as Science News Reporter for VEJA, Brazil's biggest weekly publication. In the State Government of São Paulo, he was the Transparency, Technology and Innovation adviser to the Secretary of Social Development. He's the founder of Journalism++ São Paulo, the first data journalism agency in Brazil. He also launched School of Data in the country and became the Global Manager of the program overseeing its network in 14 countries.

    Niklas Plikk is the News Editor for Norway's largest consumer technology site,  consists of an editorial team of journalists and technology experts testing and evaluating all things tech. The site was bought by VG in 2017 and has since then been part of the verticals strategy of that Schibsted title. In 2019, Plikk was appointed head of VG's first robot journalism project, the goal of which is to identify areas where automating text and content can work as a supplement to the journalism produced every day by the VG newsroom.

    Ana Plisic has launched the first creative agency and brand consultancy within legacy media publisher in Croatia in order to introduce premium native advertising to the market and deliver customer-focused instead of product-focused brand communication. She has been recognized as the world marketer of the year 2018 (Berlin, 2017). Today she is creative director in C3/PM Ljubljana and co-founder of C3 Croatia, a part of German-based C3 Group, leading european content and digital technology agency.

    She was editorial director of the award winning Native Ad Studio and Design Thinking Studio, a subdivision within Hanza Media, the leading media publisher in South East Europe, from 2015 until the February 2019.

    Previously she was deputy editor in chief, politics and business editor of the #1 premium daily newspapers. After post-graduate studies in Digital Media Management at Swedish design school Hyper Island in the UK, she has helped to build new revenue streams within the legacy media publisher and her work resulted in several native advertising awards at Native Advertising Days in Berlin: for the best omni-channel integration in the world (2017).; the best use of online media and the best use of video, (2016.)

    Corinne Podger is a digital journalism educator and international media consultant. She provides training consultancies on digital strategy and multimedia skills direct into newsrooms and via media development agencies worldwide, including WAN-IFRA South Asia, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Konrad Adenaeur Stiftung Media Programme Asia, Skillnet Ireland, Thomson Reuters Foundation and BBC Media Action. Corinne also lectures in Digital and Mobile Journalism at the University of Melbourne and has guest-lectured on digital storytelling and mobile journalism at universities in Australia, Europe and the United States. Prior to moving into journalism education, Corinne worked as a print, radio, online, social media and television journalist for over 20 years, primarily for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the BBC World Service. She continues to write for Journalism.Co.Uk, the International Journalists’ Network and the European Journalism Observatory, and speaks regularly at conferences.

    Yves Poiré

    Seasoned entrepreneur, Yves is a co-founder of president AdGear. The company was sold to Samsung in June 2016. His vision, experience and his ability to assemble and lead great teams are among his biggest strengths. Prior to AdGear, Yves Poiré has been Executive Vice-President at Fjord Interactive Marketing + Technology, Cossette's digital marketing business unit in Canada. He also was the President of Proximi-T, an information technology company specialized in e-business solutions. In 2000, Cossette acquired equity in Proximi-T, which eventually led to its merger in 2003.  Yves's humanitarian interests took him to Rwanda, India and Ecuador for three years of his career, where he worked on various development projects.

    Lydia Polgreen

    Lydia Polgreen is pioneering the globe and representing the newsroom in a company-wide initiative to engage readers in languages other than English. Previously, Ms. Polgreen was Deputy International Editor, the South Africa bureau chief, a correspondent for the New Delhi bureau and chief of the West Africa bureau. Before that, Ms. Polgreen was a metro reporter for The Times, beginning in 2002. In April 2016, she became Editorial Director & Associate Masthead Editor for the NYT Global and is architecting the company's global expansion strategy.

    Ms. Polgreen was a staff writer for the Orlando Sentinel from February to June of 2002. From July 2000 to January 2002 she was a staff writer for the Albany Times Union, covering city hall, police investigations and other local issues. She began her career as assistant editor and business manager for The Washington (D.C.) Monthly from August 1998 to August 1999.

    She received her B.A. in liberal arts from St. John's College in 1997. In 2000 she graduated, with honors, from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with her M.S. in journalism.

    Ms. Polgreen was a 2006 recipient of the George Polk Award for foreign reporting, in recognition of her travels deep into the war-torn western regions of Sudan to report on the carnage in Darfur. She received the 2008 Livingston Award for international reporting, for her series, "The Spoils", a riveting account of how mineral wealth has brought misery and exploitation to much of Africa. In 2007, she was honored as a young global leader by The World Economic Forum.

    Ms. Polgreen currently resides in New York.

    Roberto is one of the most respected journalists and media executives in Colombia. He studied law at the University of the Andes and he's been working for thirty-five year career in journalism. He started in 1979 as editor of 'Alternativa' magazine, he was a reporter for 'El Heraldo' de Barranquilla and editor-in-chief of daily 'Diario del Caribe' in the same city; he was reporter and political editor of El Tiempo, director of 'Noticiero TV Hoy" and "Viva FM" of Caracol Radio, director and columnist at Semana weekly magazine, editor and columnist of 'Cambio' magazine and director of the Mexico edition of that same publication for three years. In 2003 he served as General Editor of El Tiempo, where he is now the Managing Director . He has won several journalism awards amongst which the Simon Bolivar and CPB in Colombia, and the Ortega y Gasset prize, awarded by the daily El Pais of Spain.

    Ulf Oliver Poschardt is a German journalist and book author. Since September 6, 2016, he is the editor-in-chief of the „Welt-Gruppe" from Die Welt and Welt am Sonntag. From 1987 to 1991 Poschardt studied journalism at the University of Munich and the German School of Journalism, as well as philosophy at the Munich School of Philosophy. In 1995, he received his doctorate from Friedrich Kittler on DJ Culture at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1996 to 2000 he worked as editor-in-chief of the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung.  From 2005 to 2008, Poschardt was the founding editor of the German edition of Vanity Fair. Poschardt returned as deputy editor of Welt am Sonntag for at the Axel Springer group. In 2009 Poschardt was named deputy editor of the music magazines Rolling Stone, Musikexpress and Metal Hammer.

    Julie Posetti is a multi award-winning Australian journalist and academic. She has recently been appointed Senior Research Fellow at Oxford University’s Reuters Centre for the Study of Journalism where she will lead the Institute’s new Journalism Innovation Project. Posetti is author of Protecting Journalism Sources in the Digital Age, a major UN study covering 121 countries, published by UNESCO in 2017. Among other projects, she is currently collaborating on the production of a model curriculum on journalism and disinformation for UNESCO. In 2016/2017 she was Head of Digital Editorial Capability at Fairfax Media (publisher of The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the Australian Financial Review) in Australia. A former editor, presenter and political reporter with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Posetti was based in Paris as Research Fellow and Editor with the World Editors Forum in 2014/2015, where she edited the flagship annual Trends in Newsrooms report. She is currently a Journalism Fellow at the University of Wollongong, where she is completing her PhD.

    Shailesh Prakash is the Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Digital Product Development at The Washington Post. He is responsible for all aspects of Product Development and Technology, including web, mobile, video, print and advertising. Under his leadership, and in close partnership with the newsroom, The Post has seen tremendous digital growth. The Post’s digital audience hit an all-time high in November 2016, reaching 107 million unique visitors in the U.S. alone. The Post also had the largest mobile audience of any individual news/information site in the US in October 2016.

    AdWeek named The Washington Post the “Hottest Digital Publication” in 2016. In 2015, Fast Company magazine named The Washington Post “The World’s Most Innovative Media Company” and Digiday recognized The Post as “Most Innovative Publisher.”

    Prakash has also spearheaded the development of Arc Publishing, The Post’s rapidly growing softwareas-as-service business. This state-of-the-art digital platform and suite of tools is engineered to meet the needs of modern publishers and currently serves more than a dozen clients in the U.S. and around the world.

    Shailesh has an extensive track record in senior positions spanning multiple industries. He began his career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley moving to positions of increasing responsibility at Sun Microsystems and Netscape and Microsoft where he was a key member of the Bing search engine.

    Before coming to The Washington Post in August 2011, he was the Vice President in charge of Technology for Sears Holdings, where he oversaw end-to-end technology functions for,, and, which collectively generate more than $3 billion in annual e-Commerce revenue.

    An engineer at heart and by training, Shailesh holds a BS in Computer Science from IIT, Mumbai, a MS in Computer Science from Clemson University, and an MBA from Georgia State University.
