    Hari Shankar

    Hari is a seasoned digital media veteran with two decades of experience spanning the agency land, client side and the publisher eco-system. As the CEO of Singapore Media Exchange, a premium programmatic exchange in the market born out of the partnership between the media giants Singapore Press Holdings and Mediacorp in 2018, he is on his way to creating a strong alternative marketplace for programmatic buyers in Singapore and beyond within 12 months of inception.

    Previous stints include Regional Managing Director for Havas Media’s Digital & performance marketing arm Ecselis, heading digital acquisition for PayPal APAC and Integrated Media Director - Dell at MPG.

    Hari has successfully set up many digital / performance marketing units in addition to turning around flagging digital departments within multiple media agency groups. His core competencies lie in driving digital marketing strategy & innovation, digital media planning, cross-channel attribution & measurement, digital marketing optimization & analytics, digital tracking & measurement technology platforms and digital performance marketing.

    Began his career with Patriot in 1991, moved to India Today after a short stint. He worked there as a news coordinator for five years before joining The Indian Express in 1996. Has held various editorial responsibilities in the newspaper—from leading the Express News Service, the newspaper's network of correspondents, to heading the edition in Mumbai, before taking over as Assistant Executive Editor in 2002. Was Executive Editor and Managing Editor before becoming the Editor in 2014. Unni graduated in Economics from Calicut University and has done his Masters in English Language and Literature from Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala. He has a PG Diploma in Journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. He was awarded the Harry Brittain Fellowship of the Commonwealth Press Union in 1999.

    K. Shanmugam, is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Minister for Law since May 2008 and the Minister for Home Affairs since October 2015. He previously served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs from May 2011 to September 2015. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 1988. Shanmugam was educated in Raffles Institution from 1972 to 1977, before going on to study law at the National University of Singapore where he graduated at the top of his class with a First Class Honours degree in 1984.

    Ben is a leading expert on digital media, and at WAN-IFRA he has the task of providing independent advice on digital strategy and organisational change. He will also lead the various WAN-IFRA initiatives to support the media industry in its transformation.

    Previously, he was Shaw Media's Chief Digital Officer, and focused in driving digital revenue and audience for their digital products in the United States. Shaw was also the company’s CTO and previously IT Director. He oversaw the alignment of all technologies to Shaw’s audience and revenue growth strategies. He was also actively involved in optimizing Shaw Media's over 100 print and digital publication products and workflows. He is a licensed Apple iOS Developer and an Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist.

    Chirdeep is the CEO of Quintype, a technology startup building products in the digital media space. He has extensive experience in building large-scale cloud-hosted solutions with a keen eye for product design and analytics. At Quintype, he helps design and builds innovative technology solutions for digital media organizations to create, distribute and monetize content. Some of the leading digital publishers such as TheQuint, BloombergQuint, Swarajya and FortuneIndia use Quintype to publish their content online.

    Hyo-Seop Shin is the newsroom editor for the digital news division at Chosun Ilbo, where he has worked since 2004. In October 2015, he became the head of digital news division, which is in charge of the publisher’s VR project, which started in February 2016. VR Chosun App, which his team developed, won "Most Innovative" at 2016 Google Play Awards in Korea. His previous positions at Chosun Ilbo include being an editorial writer and an article editor of culture, entertainment, and sports. Before joining Chosun Ilbo, he worked for the political department of Hankook Ilbo from 1988 to 2004.

    In January 2019 Dmitry joined Culture Trip, a startup operating at the intersection of media and travel, after a career of 21 years at the BBC.

    There he was responsible for developing and implementing the BBC’s digital editorial offer for 40 non-English foreign language new services. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Dmitry worked in various editorial-development roles for the digital section of BBC News. These roles required liaison between editorial, product and strategy teams in order to drive innovation and develop new ways of reaching audiences, increasing engagement across the world and, crucially, driving culture change is newsrooms. He is an experienced digital leader in content creation, specialising in growing audiences across the world, driving editorial changes in newsrooms and adapting the way organisations work in digital space, especially around content innovation and audience engagement. 

    His main area of expertise is on the intersection between Editorial, Organisational, Strategy and Product sectors.

    Isaac Showman leads Reuters consumer business, which includes Reuters TV, and Reuters mobile apps.

    Reuters TV a disruptive video news service that was launched by Isaac in February 2015. The service reaches over 2M monthly active users and leads the industry for engagement. is one of the world’s largest news websites.     An innovator, Isaac joined Reuters, believing that the organization’s history and reach provided it a unique opportunity to reshape the future of journalism. He has responsibility for all aspects of Reuters consumer business, which has operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

    Previously he was a Vice President at The Economist Group, working in London and New York where he launched and and ran a number of online businesses. Prior to that he led the magazine’s marketing and subscription strategy.

    Swapnil Shrivastav

    Swapnil is currently Heading AdTech for Times Internet. At Times internet Swapnil is responsible for building world class Adtech strategy. Prior to joining Times he had started 2 ventures of his own. One was sold to Exponential / Tribal fusion, the other was backed by Intel Capital.

    Radhika Shukla

    Radhika Shukla heads the Country Operations for News Republic in India. She is responsible for driving the revenue, marketing and growth of News Republic in India.  She has worked in Indian Mobile & Internet space for more than 11 years. Prior to joining News Republic, she was the Product Head- Digital at The Hindu Group of Publications where she was leading the digital initiatives and was responsible for Hindu’s product launches & revenue on mobile.

    Radhika has worked in New Product Development teams at Aircel and Airtel. She loves heights and depths- when not working you can find her trekking in Himalayas or scuba diving.  Radhika is an MBA from FMS, Delhi and Bachelors in Technology from IIT BHU.

    Hu Shuli is the founder and Publisher of Caixin Media, and professor of the School of Communication and Design at Sun Yat-sen University.

    Internationally recognized for her achievements in journalism, Ms Hu was named one of the World’s Greatest Leaders by Fortune in 2017. She was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2014 and Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism in 2012. She was listed among Top 100 Influential People of 2011 by Time magazine. She was twice named one of Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy magazine in 2009 and 2010. The Caixin editorial team under her leadership won the 2011 Shorenstein Journalism Award from Stanford University. In 2007, she received the Louis Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism from the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University. In 2006, Ms Hu was called China’s most powerful commentator by the Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal cited her as one of Asia’s Ten Women to Watch. Ms Hu was named International Editor of the Year by the World Press Review in 2003 and one of BusinessWeek magazine’s Fifty Stars of Asia in 2001.

    Ms Hu serves as a global board member of United Way Worldwide and a member on Reuters Editorial Advisory Board, and a regional advisor for the International Center for Journalists.

    She was awarded the honorary doctorate degree from Princeton University on May, 2016.

    Caren Siebold is Head of Platforms and Portals at dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Furthermore, she is a member of the executive board of mecom, a dpa subsidiary. Until 2015 she worked in the field of Business Development at the dpa subsidiary News Aktuell. (News Aktuell provides companies with effective access to media and consumers.)

    Having worked in PR and the media business for many years, she has extensive experience in both fields.

    Currently she is implementing the "dpa-connect" strategy at dpa which is supposed to transform the agency into a platform company. The strategy aims to bring the agency and publishers in Germany together more closely, creating additional value for the media companies. In this context she manages dpa's developer campus, which builds software solutions and applications supporting the tight interplay of customer needs and agency performance.

    Caren Siebold studied in Hamburg and holds a Master's degree in German and English literature.

    Jorge Luis Sigal is a journalist and editor. He was designated by President Mauricio as Secretary of Public Media on December of 2015. He's in charge of Radio Televisión Argentina and Télam SE, the national state news agency.

    Born in the city of San Juan, Argentina, on August 5, 1953, Sigal was editor in several national media outlets, editor-in-chief of weeklies Somos and Gente (Editorial Atlántida) and Sunday editor of newspaper Página 12; he participated in the foundation - as editor-in-chief - of the newspaper Perfil in 1998 and was editor-in-chief of weekly magazine 3 Puntos until 2003. He also served as columnist for the newspaper Crítica, collaborated in the Focus and Opinion sections of La Nación newspaper, in the cultural weekly newspaper ADN and in Noticias magazine. Until March 2013 he was director of the publishing house Capital Intellectual SA.

    Previous to his current role in Macri's governmnet, he was a political analyst in Radio Continental, one of the most popular radio programs in Argentina. He was also a political analyst at newspaper Perfil and was part of the Executive Commission of the Club Político Argentino, a civil association composed of prestigious Argentina intellectuals and politicians.

    Gus Silber is an award-winning journalist, author, scriptwriter, speechwriter and media trainer. He has an extensive background in newspaper and magazine journalism, as a reporter, columnist, feature writer and editor. He is the author of several commercially-published books, covering a wide diversity of themes and subjects, from South African sociopolitical satire (It Takes Two to Toyi-Toyi) to innovation in business (Radical Innovation) to social entrepreneurship (The Disruptors) to mobile technology (Mobinomics). As a media trainer, Gus has run workshops and mentorship programmes on social media, mobile journalism, feature writing, and general aspects of journalism, for publishing companies, Government and private sector organisations, and special-interest groups. He also serves regularly as a mentor and external examiner for Journalism Honours student at the University of the Witwatersrand. Gus is currently a part-time MA Journalism candidate at Rhodes University, with a special interest in digital journalism.

    She's an expert in newsroom management, reengineering, processes and platform fusion and leads training in innovation projects, narrative journalism, research and long-term projects. Her daily work consists of guiding the editorial commitment of the media outlet in different platforms and narratives, as well as generating strategies to attract digital audience with quality content.

    Co-author of the book, Romper el Silencio, or Breaking the Silence, where she describes the attacks from organized crime against Vanguardia and herself, during one the worst periods of organized crime in northern Mexico.

    Brandon Silverman is the CEO and co-founder of CrowdTangle, a leading social analytics and discovery platform that was acquired by Facebook. CrowdTangle is used every day by thousands of publishers around the world from the New York Times to the BBC and BuzzFeed. Prior to CrowdTangle, Brandon helped start a nonprofit that trained civic & nonprofit leaders to drive change in their communities, including how to use emerging digital and social tools as a part of their work. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College and currently lives in Oakland with his wife, 3-year old son and golden retriever.

    Goh Sin Teck
    Mr Goh Sin Teck joined Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore Press Holding's Chinese flagship paper, in 1987 upon graduating from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He started as a crime reporter before assuming his current role as the Editor of Lianhe Zaobao & Lianhe Wanbao. Mr Goh has served in various public sector agency committees including Housing Development Board, Urban Redevelopment Authority Board, Public Transport Council, Primary Education Review and Implementation Committee, Singapore 21 Subcommittee on Foreign Talent, Charity Council, National Integration Council, Political Films Consultative Committee, Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning, and many more. At present, he is a member of Nanyang Technological University’s Board of Trustees, and National Translation Committee.

    Ben Sinden

    In May, Ben led the launch of 'Telegraph Video', a portal that will produce more than 30 news videos each day. He started out as a national magazine journalist before moving into television. Having worked for companies including ITV, BBC and The Shine Group, Ben moved into the digital world of video, working as Executive Producer for ITV’s Multiplatform Video team. Joining Videojug Networks in 2012 as Content Director, before becoming Managing Director in 2014, Ben has delivered online video strategies for agencies such as Carat, JWT and ZenithOptimedia as well as brands including John Lewis, Diageo and Haymarket, whilst monetising and building a distribution network for owned video content. Ben joined the Telegraph Media Group in Spring 2015 as Director of Video Content.
