    Greg Witham

    Greg Witham is COO at IBT Media in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), a fast-growing digital media company which publishes eight brands including Newsweek and International Business Times and has a readership of over 90 million monthly readers.

    Greg identifies commercial opportunities across the IBT Media EMEA portfolio, growing readership and profitability and diversifying the product so that it continues to be the definitive provider of cutting-edge news and analysis across platforms. He is leveraging new channels and platforms to distribute IBT Media’s content.

    His role was created in March 2016 in order to oversee strategy and operations during a period of rapid expansion, which looks set to continue.

    Greg joined IBT Media from Hearst Magazines UK, where he was Group Publishing Director at Hearst UK for Cosmopolitan, Digital Spy and Sugarscape. Prior to this, his previous roles included Group Publishing Director of Hearst Entertainment, as well as running the corporate trading and business development teams. He began his career at Newsquest and, after a spell at Haymarket’s MediaWeek, spent three years at Time, Inc. before joining Hearst.

    As IBT Media continues to expand its portfolio geographically, across new channels and to a wider readership, Greg will work alongside the award-winning editorial teams to spearhead growth. He is based in IBT’s newly expanded Canary Wharf office and reports to Dev Pragad, Managing Director EMEA of IBT Media.

    Michał started his professional career in media with Axel Springer in 2006 and he had almost 9 years tenure in a variety of roles. Michał worked as sport journalist, sport section manager, Managing Editor of biggest Polish daily newspaper Fakt and Editor in Chief.

    In March 2015 he moved to Germany where during next six months in cooperation with international team he was involved in launch of upday, the news aggregator, recently created by Axel Springer in partnership with Samsung. Currently he is Editor in Chief of upday in Poland and he heads editorial team of six people.

    Michał holds a Masters’ degree in political science from University of Warsaw. He graduated Axel Springer Top Talent management program developing young executives with leadership potential.

    Andreas is Data Analyst for Mittelbayerische, a German newspaper with 13 local editions situated in Regensburg, Germany. As part of his role, he is developing the analytics and business intelligence strategy for the previously launched freemium subscription model. Prior to that, Andreas was Senior Digital Analytics Consultant for AT Internet advising media houses including Frankfurter Allgemeine and Deutschlandfunk technically as well as strategical.

    Umair Wolid

    Umair who joined Wijeya Newspapers in 2008 was the first employee of the company who was recruited to focus the Digital Media side of the business.  He spearheaded the Digital Revenue side of the business over the past 8 years and currently Wijeya Newspapers generates 60% of Direct Digital Ad placement market share in Sri Lanka. Umair was one of the first Digital Advertising specialists in Sri Lanka who has worked with over 500 brands over the past 8 years. Further He has introduced concepts of Content Marketing and Native Advertising and played a lead role in introducing WhatsApp news alert services in Sri Lanka. He’s a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and a MBA Holder of the Bucks New University UK.

    Riaan Wolmarans is Managing Editor: Digital at Tiso Blackstar Group and the publisher of the Sunday Times, TimesLIVE, Sowetan, SowetanLIVE, Business Day, BusinessLIVE and Sunday World, among other titles. He previously worked for the Mail & Guardian, the Financial Times in London and MetropolitanRepublic, the Johannesburg-based advertising agency, and has experience in both print and digital publishing.

    Joon Ian Wong

    Joon Ian Wong manages CoinDesk’s business in Europe and Asia, based in London. He joined CoinDesk as a reporter soon after it launched in 2013, then built its events business in 2015 with the Consensus conference. He recently rejoined CoinDesk after nearly three years with Quartz as its European technology correspondent, where he worked on several noteworthy Quartz projects including its subscription newsletter, its book, and its Obsessions newsletter. He has also been a reporter in Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, New York City, and Singapore.

    Mildred Wong

    Mildred is the Director of Field Marketing and Marketing Communications, Asia Pacific for Hyatt - a leading global hospitality company. She is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies with a focus to create personalized experiences designed to enhanced loyalty and increased preference across Asia Pacific. Previously, Mildred worked for Marriott International as Director, Brand Marketing, Marriott Endorsed, Asia Pacific responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies for brands as well as MICE in Asia Pacific.

  • Managing Editor, Chinese Media Group, Singapore Press Holdings

    Woon Yen heads the teams responsible for developing the adjacencies of Singapore Press Holding's Chinese Media Group (CMG), including education, cultural projects, events and custom publishing. Prior to taking up this portfolio in December 2016, she was Deputy Digital Editor of CMG. She was the Business Editor of Lianhe Zaobao for two years till November 2015. Woon Yen started her career as a business journalist with Lianhe Zaobao, after which she spent seven years spearheading investor relations and corporate communications at China Aviation Oil (Singapore) Ltd, a Singapore-listed company, following the restructuring of the company in 2005. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

    Nick Wrenn is head of Facebook’s News Partnerships team for EMEA, based in London. Nick and the partnerships team collaborate with publishers, broadcasters and journalists across the region. Nick joined Facebook in December 2014 after 24 years in newsrooms. He began his career as a regional newspaper reporter in southern England before moving to the UK Press Association and also working on the Reuters’ sportsdesk. Nick was a member of the team that launched and grew the BBC News website, then spent 14 years at CNN. During his time there he was in charge of the London office, overseeing CNN’s newsgathering and programming for EMEA. Then he spent six years at CNN HQ in Atlanta as the VP in charge of international digital services.

    Jonny Wright was appointed Managing Director International of Dow Jones in January 2016. He previously served as Managing Director APAC and Publisher of Financial News and WSJ Pro. Mr. Wright is responsible for defining and implementing growth strategies for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones outside the United States. Mr. Wright is based in Hong Kong.

    Previously, Mr. Wright was Circulation Director in Europe for The Wall Street Journal, a role he held from January 2013. Mr. Wright first joined Dow Jones in 2010 as Advertising Sales Director for Dow Jones’ Financial News.

    Before joining the Dow Jones, he was Publisher and Group Sales Director at Euromoney Institutional Investor based in New York.

  • Vice President of Caixin Media; Managing Director of Caixin Global

    Li Xin is a Vice President of Caixin Media and the Managing Director of Caixin Global, leading the company’s global news and intelligence services, as well as Caixin’s international branding and global events. 

    Before Caixin, she was the Managing Editor of the Chinese Wall Street Journal and Chinese Dow Jones newswire. 

    This is her second stint at Caixin, where she was formerly the Managing Editor of Caixin: China Economics & Finance, an English-language magazine, and Caixin Online. 

    In 2006, she founded Caijing Magazine’s first bureau in the United States, as a correspondent of politics and economics. Li moved back to China in 2007 to head Caijing Magazine’s English-language website. Li was a documentary producer at China Central Television between 2001 and 2004. 

    Li holds a bachelor degree in English language from Tsinghua University, a master degree in journalism from University of Missouri-Columbia and an Executive MBA degree from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. 

    She is an Aspen China Fellow and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, as well as a member of the International Media Council at the World Economic Forum. 

    Li is an avid pubic speaker, having moderated panels at international conferences such as the World Economic Forum, DLD and Caixin Summit, on topics such as China’s economy and finance, data privacy, AI, and women leadership. She has spoken on journalism, China’s economy and cross-border investment at Oxford University, Global Editors Network and other international conferences.

    Hannah Yang is the Senior Vice President of Consumer Revenue at The New York Times, leading its subscription acquisition strategy and execution. She has held a variety of positions at the Times, including in business development, advertising, and strategic planning. Prior to joining the Times, Hannah was an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and a management consultant at Katzenbach Partners LLC (now a part of Strategy &). She graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

    Samantha Yap
    Samantha Yap is the Founder & Director of YAP Global based in London. She's a fintech, blockchain and cryptocurrency media specialist with past experience working as an international freelance journalist in Jakarta, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Prior to delving into fintech PR at the beginning of 2017, she worked at ChannelNews Asia in Singapore as a broadcast journalist and current affairs producer. At ChannelNews Asia, she worked on its flagship talk show programme, Perspectives, and produced several other programmes including a special documentary filmed in Jakarta.

    Enrique holds a BA in Sociology. He began his professional carreer in advertising at the media department of Univas Ibérica. At the age of 24 he was appointed Director of Media at Unitrost, and four years later, he joined Bassat Ogilvy with the same responsibility. In 1988 he moved to Madrid to direct Holos Media, the media agency of the J. Walter Thompson group. In 1992 Enrique founded Media Hotline, an advisory company focused on marketing and advertising for media companies. Always involved with professional associations and trade bodies, he founded the "Asociación de centrales de compra" ( Central Purchasing Association) with a group of professionals of his trade. He actively participates in the forums organized by AMI, through its technical commissions, as a member of the board of directors and vice president for a period of 8 years. Partner of the Advertising Academy, since 2013 he is a member of the board of directors and general secretary. He has participated in various courses and seminars on media.

    Yat Chung joined SPH as a Director on 1 August 2016 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 1 September 2017. He is the Chairman of the Singapore Institute of Technology Board of Trustees. Prior to joining SPH, he was the Executive Director and Group CEO of Neptune Orient Lines Ltd (2011-2016) and Senior Managing Director at Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (2007-2011). Before joining Temasek Holdings, he was the Chief of Defence Force in the Singapore Armed Forces. He also served as a Director of Fraser & Neave Limited and Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. Yat Chung holds a Bachelor of Arts (Engineering Tripos) and a Master of Arts from Cambridge University, a Master of Military Art and Science (General Studies) from the US Army Command & General Staff College, USA, and a MBA from Stanford University.

    Cecilia is a Partner in our Assurance practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers and has been appointed as Mainland and Hong Kong Media Leader since 2018. Cecilia holds a BA (Hon) in Economics from the University of Hong Kong and is a member of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also an AIPCA qualification holder. She has more than 20 years of assurance and business advisory experience across Asia Pacific region.

    Cecilia has extensive experience in both China and Hong Kong which includes audits, financial due diligence, risk assessments review, floatation work and Sarbanes Oxley 404 control audits. She has deep understanding and relevant experience in dealing with IPO related issues for media, technology, education and medical industries.

    During her career, she has led the teams to serve a number of reputable listed and the multi national companies including Television Broadcast Limited, Sony Corporation, The Interpublic Group of Companies, Metro Newspaper Group, Emap and Beijing Youth Daily IOP etc.

    Ian Yee is a news editor, journalist and executive producer currently managing a multiple award-winning multimedia news platform based in Malaysia called R.AGE.

    Steve Yelvington was born into the news business, the son of a newspaper editor, and has worked as a photographer, reporter, editor and executive at news companies throughout the United States. He has served as VP/Audience, VP/Content and Strategy, Director of Publishing Systems, Executive Editor and in other roles for Morris Communications, Cox Interactive Media,  and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Before moving to the digital world in 1994, he worked in print journalism in Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois. He has won both the EPPy Outstanding Individual Achievement and NAA Online Innovator award.

    Ted Young

    Ted became Metro’s fourth Editor in the summer of 2014 and has recently overseen a widely acclaimed redesign of the newspaper.

    Prior to joining Metro, Ted has enjoyed enormous success as an Editor in print and online, in the UK and US. He was previously Editor of the London Lite, DMG Media’s free London evening newspaper, as well as Editor of MailOnline – now the largest news website in the world.

    Most recently, Ted spent two years in the US as Editor of New York Daily News Online, where he succeeded in more than doubling the number of unique visitors to over 50 million.

    After graduating Cambridge University in 1983, Ted’s first job in newspapers was at the Harrow Observer. His extensive news career includes senior positions at The Sun and Daily Express as well as roles at The Northern Echo, Daily Mail and Today.

    Outside of his passion for news, Ted is also a keen rugby fan and long-suffering supporter of Newcastle United.

    As a media professional, Gert Ysebaert (54), has spent his entire life working in the media industry, combining his passion with a professional career. After obtaining his master’s degree in Communication and completing it with an Executive MBA, Gert held various management positions, mainly within the Corelio publishing group. He was publisher of De Standaard, Belgium’s largest quality newspaper, and Het Nieuwsblad, the second largest popular newspaper in Belgium.

    When Corelio and Concentra joined forces in 2013 to form the new company Mediahuis, Gert Ysebaert was appointed CEO.  Over the past years he has led the Mediahuis organization on its path to further digital growth of its services and brands. Under his leadership and with the acquisition of NRC Media and Telegraaf Media Groep, Mediahuis evolved into a leading Belgian-Dutch multimedia company with more than 3.200 employees, an annual turnover of 800 MIO EUR and a daily sale of 1.4 million newspapers in Belgium and the Netherlands.

    Magnus is specialized in online video news and have developed online video strategies for international players such as The Telegraph Media Group, for Aftonbladet (where he previously was Director of Television) as well as for local media networks and online video news ventures. He previously had posts as the Head of Program Development at Swedish broadcaster SVT; the Director of Program Development and Sales at Swedish productions house Strix; Managing Director of production house Baluba Television; Managing Director of Kamera, one of Europe's leading online TV companies in the first round of online TV around year 2000.
