    Charmaine has more than 20 years of experience in Marketing, Advertising and Business Development and has worked for the Philippines' top companies.  From FMCG where she handled flagship brands and was part of the team to set up business operations in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, South China and Hongkong,  she moved to B2B heading the Marketing team for the Enterprise Group of one of the major telco companies in the Philippines.     Charmaine, a 2015 Awardee of the Golden Globe Tigers for Excellence in Marketing and Leadership  head of all the Inquirer platforms finding marketing synergies and providing marketing solutions for their clients.  The Inquirer Group has a reach of more than 20 Million and has transitioned from a single-medium platform to a multimedia organization on print, digital, social, broadcast, video-on-demand, outdoor advertising, printing and learning.  .   Recently, she spearheaded the Marketing campaign for the re-think of the Inquirer launching  "My Inquirer" and the tactical campaign- "Experience the most engaging Inquirer yet" putting into life the media quintet innovation of the Inquirer Group.

    Endy M. Bayuni is chief editor of The Jakarta Post, Indonesia’s leading independent English language newspaper. 

    He has held his current position since August 2004, having worked his way up the newspaper’s career ladder since 1991. His previous stints in the newspaper included production manager/night editor, national editor, managing editor and deputy chief editor.

    Mr. Bayuni writes regular and widely read columns in the newspaper commenting on the Indonesian domestic politics, including political Islam and foreign policy conduct. The Jakarta Post is part of a small circle of critical but constructive media in Indonesia. The unprecedented freedom of speech and freedom of the media that came after the downfall of President Soeharto’s regime in 1998 has allowed the press in Indonesia to play its role as the fourth estate, providing democratic checks and balances on the government. Mr. Bayuni and his editorial team have been pushing the envelope through the newspaper’s vigorous reporting. He began his career as a cub reporter for The Jakarta Post in 1983, and between 1984 and 1991 worked as the Indonesian correspondent, initially for Reuters and later for Agence France Presse (AFP).

    Mr. Bayuni was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 2003/4 where he spent a considerable time attending classes at the Kennedy School of Government. He was a Jefferson Fellow at the East West Center in the fall of 1999. He has a bachelor of arts degree in economics which he received in 1981 from Kingston University in Surrey, UK. He is an expert of Global Expert Finder, a project of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

    Michael Beach is an innovative media executive well-versed in driving multi-media strategy and operations. His journalism career includes winning a Walkley Award for Australia’s best news story. And he currently sits on the Walkley Advisory Board.

    He is also former New York Bureau Chief for News Corp who covered the September 11 terror attacks in 2001. He edited The Saturday Daily Telegraph in Sydney before moving to Perth to play a key role in transforming of two of Australian best media brands – The West Australian and 7 News.

    Michael is both the Deputy Editor of The West Australian and head of Digital Content for Seven West Media (WA).

    Kevin Beatty

    Kevin was appointed to the Board of DMGT plc in 2004, having joined the Group in 1996. Prior to this, Kevin was managing director of the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail Ltd, which at that time was part of Mirror Group plc.

    With the Group for 20 years, Kevin has been managing director of The Mail on Sunday; managing director of the Evening Standard and London Metro; chief operating officer of Associated New Media; and managing director of Northcliffe Newspapers.

    Kevin is now Chief Executive of dmg media, the consumer media operation of DMGT plc, which publishes the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, Metro, Mail Online, Mail Plus, Metro digital editions and Elite Daily. dmg media also has minority interests in the London Evening Standard, Wowcher, a daily deals business and a number of e-commerce business.

    He is a board member of the NMA and represents the UK publishing industry on the executive council of WAN-IFRA; he is a non-executive director of the PA Group where he chairs the nominations committee and is a member of the remuneration committee. Recently he has been appointed Chairman of the RFC, the body that funds IPSO (Independent Press Standards Organisation).

    Philippe Beaudoins

    Philippe has twenty years of professional experience as a software team manager, academic researcher and software developer, including 5 years at Google. He holds M. Sc., Ph. D. and followed Postdoc studies in Computer Science, with research focusing on bipedal control, machine learning and physics simulation. Philippe published 20 significant scientific papers, patents or book chapters, and leads communities of 3 open source projects and of a world-wide academic workgroup. He is a founder of three corporations, including Element AI and ArcBees Consulting, and is regularly invited as speaker in many public events. His specialties: Machine Learning, Physics-Based Systems, Control, Data Compression.

    Kate Beddoe

    Kate Beddoe is the head of news and publishing partnerships in APAC. Prior to joining Google in July 2015 she had been working in the Australian media industry for over 20 years, the last 15 in digital roles in both pure digital business and traditional media companies.

    Her focus is on bringing the best of Google to news and publishing partners in the region and making sure that the unique needs of the region are well reflected in Google’s approach to the news ecosystem.

    As a former journalist in magazine and digital newsrooms Kate is committed to using storytelling to drive real business outcomes, for Google and it’s news partners in APAC. In her time she's created new teams, walked in to manage old ones, owned P&Ls and operated in environments where she had influence but no control. All of which makes her excited and empathic to the challenges faced in the modern news ecosystem.

    When not working, Kate enjoys to spend time with her husband and two amusing children; travelling and perfecting the mix of a good espresso martini.

    Kawaljit Singh Bedi is the Chief Technology Officer at NDTV Convergence (NDTV’s Digital Media Division) and Senior Vice President, Strategy for the NDTV group. Kawaljit has been with the NDTV Group for over 17 years and oversees technology, user-experience and product road-map for NDTV's websites and apps. He is also the Managing Director of Gadgets 360, India's largest technology and gadgets website.

    Kawaljit has won several international awards in the field of innovation including Commonwealth Broadcasting Association award for Innovative engineering and NAB International Broadcasting Excellence award. He and his team have also filed for multiple patents in the fields of digital media and broadcast engineering. He has been trained in digital journalism from the Thomson Foundation in Cardiff, UK.

    Jineth is currently Deputy Editor for EL TIEMPO newspaper. She's a journalist and international speaker about topics such as armed conflict, drug traffic and gender issues. She has published seven books. Her work has made her the recipient of several international awards such as the Premio Mundial al Coraje Periodístico and the Premio Internacional a la Mujer de Coraje.

    Jineth is a nominee the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in defense of womens rights as a result of her broad campaign against gender violence and impunity in Colombia, called 'No Es Hora De Callar' (It's not time to be silent), launched in 2009. That same year, her case went public: she had been kidnapped, tortured and abused because of her work as a reporter during Colombia's armed conflict.

    This campaign has helped many other women victims of violence. In 2013, Jineth was ackowledged as one of the 100 most influential journalists in the world covering war and violence, and the following year was amongst Colombia's most important leaders, selected by the prestigious Colombian Semana magazine and the Fundación Liderazgo y Democracia.

    She was part of the group of victims that participated in the current peace process taking place in Havana among the Colombian government and the FARC Armed Guerrilla. Last February, she received the Premio Nacional al Mérito Periodístico (National Award to the Journalistic Merit) for her more than 20 years of profesional trajectory.

    Melissa Bell is Publisher at Vox Media. Together with Matthew Yglesias and Ezra Klein, Bell cofounded Vox.com in the spring of 2014. Previously, Bell was the Director of Platforms at the Washington Post and a columnist for the paper. Bell is a journalist turned technologist, an unusual breed in news organizations today.

    Fergus Bell is an experienced journalist, editor and leading expert in digital newsgathering, verification, newsroom innovation and collaborative journalism projects. He is also a strong advocate for higher ethical standards in digital journalism.
    Fergus’ experience spans both the business and editorial sides of the news industry. He spent eight years at the Associated Press, where he became their first International Social Media and UGC Editor. He then headed up newsroom partnerships and innovation for digital newsgathering start-up, SAM Desk. Fergus founded Dig Deeper Media in 2015 and advises broadcasters, publishers and start-ups on social and digital newsgathering, newsroom transformation and innovation. In 2017 he launched Pop-Up Newsroom, a framework for collaborative journalism projects that has already seen success in the US, UK, Sweden and won an Online Journalism Award in 2018 for "Verificado" - an initiative designed to monitor for misinformation during the Mexican elections. In 2018 Fergus was named as a Reynolds Journalism Institute Fellow.

    Fergus Bell

    Fergus Bell is an experienced digital journalist, editor and leading expert in digital newsgathering and the verification of user-generated content by news media. He is also a prominent advocate for higher industry standards relating to the ethical uses of UGC and social media.
    Fergus has experience in both the business and editorial sides of the industry, most recently heading up newsroom partnerships and innovation for SAM desk, a social newsgathering tool for newsrooms. Fergus joined SAM from the Associated Press where, as international social media and UGC editor, he led the global operation to source and verify user-generated content for all of the AP’s platforms.
    In October 2013 Fergus co-founded a committee for the Online News Association that has brought together leaders in the journalism community to explore the ethics and standards of UGC and digital newsgathering for the news industry. He is also founding member of the First Draft News coalition of UGC experts supported by the Google News Lab. Fergus is a graduate of the University of Leeds.

    Under Bell’s leadership, the Courageous team has been honored with notable recognition, including Turner Ignite and CNN’s first Cannes Lions, Adweek’s “Grand Arc Award” and Digiday Content Marketing Awards’ “Best Use of Native Advertising” in 2017. In addition to his industry accomplishments, Bell debuted his first documentary, “The Eagle Huntress,” to wide acclaim at Sundance in 2016, and was named one of Variety’s “Top 10 Directors to Watch.”

    Jacob Bendixen Andersen is Head of Digital Video at TV 2 Denmark, where he also serves as Head of Digital Lifestyle and Entertainment. Digital Video at TV 2 grew 1,750 percent between June 2013 through January 2017. Last year, it grew by 45 percent at TV 2. Andersen joined TV 2 in June 2013. From 2006 to 2013, he was Head of Video at Jyllands-Posten – the largest paper in Denmark at that time. He shot his first digital video in 2004 when Bill Gates visited the Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

    Guy has many years of experience in the African media and headed the School of Journalism & Media Studies at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa and was recently appointed Director for Freedom of Expression and Media Development at UNESCO.

    In the past, he has worked in both press and television and had a long-running column on the The Mail & Guardian website. He holds a doctorate from Rhodes University and was the deputy chair of the South African National Editor’s Forum.

    Rick Berke is the founding Executive Editor of STAT, which was launched in November 2015 and now has a staff of more than 50. The aim has been to build a world-class news organization based in Boston -- the epicenter of medicine, health and biotech -- but with reporters nationwide. STAT was created as a separate company by Boston Globe Media, the parent company of The Boston Globe, which was bought by businessman John Henry in 2013. Already, STAT has won numerous national awards for it investigative work and for its innovations in digital storytelling.
    Berke was previously a longtime reporter and editor at The New York Times, where he served as White House correspondent, chief political correspondent, Washington editor, national editor, video content editor, and assistant managing editor. More recently, Rick was executive editor at Politico.

    Drew Berkowitz

    Drew Berkowitz has nearly 20 years of digital media experience, insight and industry perspective. He currently serves as Senior Vice President at wochit, leading efforts to help guide publishers, journalists, brands and storytellers elevate their content by creating custom Video. Drew was most recently General Manager of AOL's Goviral Division, leading the US launch with publishers and agencies, while also integrating systems within AOL’s video department. He also served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Vimeo where he won numerous awards for creating video partnerships between brands and Vimeo's community. Drew started in the digital landscape launching Comedy Central's website before starting his own consultancy in 1999 to help other emerging digital companies strategize and execute across sales and marketing. Drew is currently writing a book titled, "Why You Won’t Read This", covering the shift in consumption of information from written word to video.

    Hauke Berndt joined ppi Media in 2002. Always close to his customers, he got to
    know the international media industry from scratch in the past few years. In
    particular, ppi Media’s expansion into new markets is one of Hauke Berndt’s most

    Media’s software products for magazine production and corporate publishing and
    gained a foothold in these markets for the company.
    On July 1, 2016, Hauke Berndt was appointed managing director of ppi Media and is
    responsible for customer projects, sales and marketing.

    Matthias Berninger is the Vice-President Public Affairs at Mars, Incorporated and Deputy President for the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). After 13 years in Politics, representing the Green Party of his home state Hessen, Matthias Berninger retired in 2007 from his seat in the German Federal Parliament and joined Mars Europe as their Director Corporate Health and Nutrition for Europe and the CIS. In April 2008, he moved into the role of Global Head of Public Policy for Mars Incorporated. He joined the Global Chocolate Management Team of Mars Incorporated in 2009. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he supports Mars Chocolate in communication and strategy development. In September 2009, Matthias was promoted to Corporate Staff Officer Public Affairs with responsibilities for the Central Public Policy and Programs team and the Public Affairs teams in Washington DC, Brussels, Moscow, Asia, Latin America, Africa with the Middle East reporting into him. He also leads the global trade team within Mars, Incorporated.

She leads an international team dedicated to amplifying women's voices in newsrooms. Prior to this, she developed online communication campaigns for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Polish Ministry of Culture. She studied European politics in Ottawa and Warsaw.

    David Best

    David Best studied media management at the University of Mainz. For 6 years now, he has been working as a consultant for Kirchner + Robrecht management consultants, a company focusing on the media sector and corporate communications. As part of his activities, he carries out strategy, organisational and technology projects. His work focuses on projects for business model development, product management and IT system selection and implementation. Here, too, he is often concerned with systems from the publishing sector, e.g. editorial systems, WCMS, mobile publishing solutions, paywall systems or web analytics systems. He accompanies customers in the search for the individually suitable system solution.

    As Chief Data Officer, Tom Betts oversees the strategic use of customer data and research across the organisation, helps identify growth opportunities, and experiments and tests new ideas with the aim of building audiences and revenues. Since joining the FT in 2009, Betts and his team have spearheaded the use of data to improve business performance, allowing the FT to deliver better services and tools for both readers and advertisers. Betts is part of The Financial Times Group leadership team.

    Stefan Betzold

    Stefan Betzold, 43, is Managing Director Digital at BILD, a subsidiary of market leading publishing house Axel Springer SE, overseeing the digital activities of Germany´s biggest media brand BILD.

    Before joining BILD in 2009, Stefan was Co-Founder and Managing Partner at a digital media agency and worked in various leading roles at AOL and Bertelsmann. Stefan has 16 years work experience indigital media and holds a master degree in Business and Marketing.

  • Deputy Director of TV, Groupe L'Equipe, France

    Laure Bezault has been Deputy Director of TV at L'Equipe since 2016. She participated in the restructuring and editorial repositioning of the L'Equipe channel. The channel, first launched in 1998 on cable and satellite, has been broadcasting free-to-air since 2013. Since 2015, it has more than doubled its audience, raising revenue significantly while controlling costs. It is now the first sports television channel in France, the only one free-to-air. It forms part of the full editorial offer of Groupe l'Equipe, with a print and digital offer, daily and magazine.
    Laure Bezault previously held the position of Secretary General of iTélé (Canal + Group's news channel) for 5 years. Previously, she was Editor in Chief for a local television channel, Nantes 7. She began her career at LCI (news channel of the TF1 group), as a journalist specialising in economic issues, after a University degree in Economics and a Masters in Media Management at ESCP-EAP.
