Alberto Lucas López joined National Geographic as Senior Graphics Editor in 2016. He studied journalism at the University of Navarra and began his career at Spanish newspaper El Correo. He spent three years at the South China Morning Post, where he set a record of 33 individual awards at SNDs Best of News Design in 2015 as Graphics Director. In just eight years of career His individual work has been renowned with more than 100 SND, Malofiej, WAN-IFRA, European Newspaper Awards, DJA Global Editors Network, Kantar Information Is Beatiful Awards, SOPA and Laus Awards, among others.

CEO & Young Audiences Consultant, Connections, France

As CEO of Aralynn A.A. McMane Connections, she helps news organizations and nonprofits that want to better reach, serve and build the loyalty of today’s youngest audiences, members of the  generation that came after millennials, and their influencers. Her work uses the tenets of professional newsgathering as a basis and focuses on an international framework.

Current clients include Ouest-France (France) and Community Media Forum Europe (Belgium) and NewseumED (USA). Also, she is involved in two pro bono projects: advising UNESCO's Global Alliance for Media and Information Literacy Partnerships and, as a board member, helping News Decoders-Nouvelles Découvertes, a not-for-profit based in Paris that offers a news service and global forum for young millennials and secondary school students to learn about international affairs and engage in a borderless conversation about important matters of the day.

Previously, she was executive director for youth engagement and news literacy at WAN-IFRA where she most recently completed the reportNews Literacy and News Publishers: 7 ways forward to help young audiences fight fake news and do much, much more. That 2017 report, commissioned by the American Press Institute,  gathers intelligence about a wide variety of smart practice in 40 countries, focusing on the generation younger than millennials. At WAN-IFRA, she helped news publishers and news associations determine how best to interact with young people and their influencers in ways that furthered both news businesses and democracy. She also ran WAN-IFRA's ground-breaking initial media development work in Africa and Europe.

She has been a reporter and editor at newspapers in the U.S. and France and a journalism educator and researcher in the U.S., France and Bulgaria. She served on the board of the European Journalism Centre, based in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and Brussels, Belgium. Among her favorite past jobs is stint as the light and sound technician for The Exotic Kaena at the Kon Tiki bar in Lake George, New York. Her degrees are from SUNY Albany (B.A.)  Syracuse University (M.A.) and Indiana University (Ph.D).

Digital Journalism Consultant and Lecturer

Corinne Podger is the Director of the Digital Skills Agency, which provides training and consultancy to newsrooms globally in mobile journalism, social media, multimedia, and digital-first strategy. Her clients include WAN-IFRA, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Konrad Adenaeur Stiftung Media Programme Asia, Skillnet Ireland, Thomson Reuters Foundation and BBC Media Action. Corinne is a sessional journalism lecturer at the University of Melbourne and has guest-lectured at universities in Australia, Europe and the United States. Prior to moving into journalism training, Corinne worked as a print, radio, online, social media and television journalist for over 20 years, primarily for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the BBC World Service. She continues to write for the International Journalists’ Network and Digital Content Next, and speaks regularly at international conferences.

Principal Consultant, WAN-IFRA Consulting, Germany

Gregor Waller provides consulting services to international media businesses for developing their digital strategy and transforming their business models for the digital era. Before this, he worked for more than six years in various management functions for Germany's Axel Springer publishing corporation. Most recently, up to February 2011, as a member of the management team of the WELT group, Berliner Morgenpost, Hamburger Abendblatt, he was responsible for strategy & innovation and commercial management of the Zeitungsgruppe Hamburg. After testing a "prototype tablet" with his core newspaper readers – one year before the iPad – he focused on the topics of digital strategy, digital business models and paid content, bringing his experience in these areas to bear also in strategic group projects.

From 1998-2004 he worked for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung GmbH in positions such as commercial manager for publishing houses Prestel and Xenos Verlag. Waller has a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Augsburg and an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the Munich School of Philosophy.

Design Consultant

Hans Peter Janisch has been a newspaper designer and consultant to the newspaper industry since 1989. His work focuses on the redesign of publications as well as consulting on all issues pertaining to the visual appearance of a publishing house. Over the years he has designed numerous newspapers and weekly journals in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Bosnia- Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Slovenia and many other countries. Next to the work of implementing creative design concepts Hans Peter is a lecturer at the Society for News Design, the Center of Journalism Haus Busch, the Journalist Academy and for the world organization of newspapers, the WAN- IFRA.

Kevin Anderson is an international journalism and communications consultant with more than 15 years of global digital journalism experience. His clients have included Al Jazeera, India's Network18, Reed Business Information, CNN International and Trinity-Mirror. From 2014 to 2015, he was a regional executive editor with Gannett, the larger newspaper publisher in the US. From 2006 to 2010, he held a number of digital leadership positions with The Guardian, and from 1998 to 2006, he worked for the BBC, including more than six years as the BBC’s first online correspondent outside of the U.K.

Together with a client, Aftonbladet, he created an open investigation-model for journalism that led to several nominees at the Grand investigative journalism-awards. In 2012 he co-founded the now disused citizen journalism-project Ajour. 2014 juror of Digital media Asia awards. 2016 juror at ”Grand national radio award”, the MEG media award.

As a speaker he is sought after both nationally and internationally, speaking at many of the worlds biggest newspapers, as Hindustan Times in Dehli, Manorama Malayala in Kerala and VnExpress in Vietnam, and media houses in Singapore.

Design Consultant, Lacava Design Inc.

Lucie Lacava is a design consultant for Lacava Design Inc., a firm offering visual strategies for print and digital media. Previously, she held the position of Design Editor at the The Montreal Gazette, and AME at Le Devoir before founding her company in 1993. Since then, she has given visual personality to more than 100 publications across eight countries including the UAE and Singapore. Her professional contributions include past presidency of the Society for News Design (2001), and as founding member of the francophone chapter of SND. She has served as a judge for the CNNA, SND, SPD, ATypI, IFRA, and the Malofiej.

Peter Ong is a newspaper consultant in Sydney, Australia. He has been a journalist for more than 30 years and has redesigned newspapers and magazines in 12 countries from Samoa in the Pacific to Saudi Arabia. He was, until recently, the long-serving regional director for the Society for News Design. Peter has been a regular speaker at international newspaper conferences all over the world. He also conducts training programmes for media organisations. Peter is passionate about content development and new technologies and how both can work together for the betterment of the media.

Dr. García is currently working on its project #725.  He has worked as a design/editorial consultant in 120 countries. Among his projects, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), New Straits Times (Malaysia),  Aftenposten (Norway), The Philadelphia Inquirer, Die Zeit and Handelsblatt (Germany), Gulf News (Dubai), all the McClatchy newspapers in the US, 8 Postmedia newspapers in Canada,  Goteborgs Posten ( Sweden), Il Secolo XIX (Italy), The Citizen (South Africa).

He is also the Senior Adviser for News Design/Adjunct Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, which he joined in 2013 as the Hearst Digital Media Professor in Residence. Mario founded the Graphics & Design program at The Poynter Institute for Media Studies, where he serves as a member of the Poynter Foundation. He has received over 300 SND Awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award. People Magazine selected Mario among the 100 Most Influential Hispanics.The University of Missouri awarded Mario its Medal of Honor in Journalism.

Pepe Cerezo is a digital strategist who specialises in digital journalism, online media and new business models. He's got more than 16 years of experience in new technologies and digital transformation of organisations, especially in the media sector. Since January 2015, Pepe's been the director of Evoca Media, a digital strategy-consulting firm thats focused on digital communication and media transformation, with wide experience in the implementation and development of digital projects. Previously he held various executive positions relate to digital business in companies like Prisa, Orange, etc. He was the coordinator responsible for the final process of choosing the digital audience meter for the Spanish market. He is the author of Medios Líquidos a book about the digital transformation of business models in the information sector.

Media Innovation Strategist, Berlin

Robb Montgomery is a journalism professor, consultant and serial entrepreneur based in Berlin, Germany. He is the author of two books on visual storytelling and the founder of several businesses including Visual Editors, Montgomery Multimedia and the Smart Film School.

Montgomery is a former visual editor for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times. He redesigned the San Francisco Examiner in 2005 and has led innovation projects throughout his career.

Montgomery teaches Mobile Journalism and Design Thinking at several European universities and is the author of “A Field Guide for Mobile Journalism” (iTunes) and “Smartphone Filmmaking” (Taylor & Francis).

He has two best-seller courses on Udemy (Smartphone Filmmaking and Mobile Journalism) and founded the Smart Film School in 2015 to provide certificate training resources for schools and organizations.
