Ismael Nafría 

Author of the book "La Reinvención de The New York Times" & Digital Media Expert, Spain

Author of the book "The Reinvention of the New York Times" and editor of the weekly newsletter Tendenci@s on the latest digital media trends. Ismael Nafría is an independent journalist, writer, editor, consultant and speaker specialized in digital media. He was journalist in residence at The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at University of Texas at Austin for the 2016-2017 during which he wrote his book on the NYTimes, his fourth. He was the Digital Innovation and Content Director (2011-2016) at Grupo Godo and deputy editor at Prisacom, the Internet company of Grupo PRISA (2005-2008) . Shan Wang

Shan Wang is a staff writer for Nieman Journalism Lab, where she reports on the future of journalism in an internet age and is currently helping the Lab expand its coverage of digital innovation outside the U.S. Before she joined the Lab, she worked for and freelanced for many other Boston-based outlets. Before journalism, she was an editorial assistant for humanities books at an academic publisher.


Mădălina Ciobanu

Madalina Ciobanu is project manager at the European Journalism Centre (EJC), an international non-profit headquartered in The Netherlands, that connects journalists with new ideas, skills and people. She is working on the Engaged Journalism Accelerator, an initiative that offers grants, mentorship, resources and events for European newsrooms doing reporting that empowers communities and amplifies their conversations. Previously, Madalina was senior reporter at, covering media innovation and co-organising’s digital journalism conference, newsrewired.


Melanie Deziel 

Branded content strategist, USA

Melanie Deziel is an award-winning branded-content strategist, consultant, and speaker who travels the world educating marketing, sales, and editorial teams on branded-content best practices. 

Deziel started The Overlap League native ad newsletter, writes the New Media Navigator column for Inc, teaches social media for Syracuse University’s online Master’s program, and is on the board of the Native Advertising Institute. She is the former director of creative strategy for Time Inc. and was the first editor of branded content at The New York Times, where she wrote the sponsored content pieces that won the 2014 and 2015 Best Native Advertising Execution OMMA Award, including the acclaimed “Women Inmates” piece for Netflix.


Dmitry Shiskin 

BBC World Service Digital Development Editor, BBC, United Kingdom

Dmitry is responsible for developing and implementing the BBC’s digital editorial offer for all 28 non-English foreign language new services (soon to be 40 due to expansion in Asia, Africa and Europe). Originally from Moscow, Russia, Dmitry has worked in various editorial-development roles for the digital section of BBC News. These roles have required liaison between editorial, product and strategy teams in order to drive innovation and develop new ways of reaching audiences, increasing engagement across the world and, crucially, driving culture change is newsrooms.
