D. D. Purkayastha is the Managing Director & CEO of ABP. He oversees strategy and operations of the ABP Group.  He is a Cost and Management Accountant.   Mr. Purkayastha has spent 37 years in the Media Industry.

Under Mr. Purkayastha’s leadership ABP has grown to be the largest reached News Media of the country. ABP’s TV News Bouquet has the highest viewership among all Indian News Channels.  He has also led ABP to be the most diversified Media Company of the country. Mr. Purkayastha is regarded as a veteran in the IT Industry in India.

He is the Chairman of INFOCOM, the country's largest ICT exhibition and he is on the Board of ANN (ABP News Network Private Ltd), WAN-IFRA and INMA.  He is also the Special Advisor to the President of WAN-IFRA.

Director of International Sales, QIPC

Mathijs Baron is as Director of International Sales for Africa & Asia Pacific region. He is responsible for South-America, Africa and Asian regions and supporting customers in these areas. After Graduation at the Marnix University in Utrecht in the Netherlands, he launched his career in Beijing, China where he lived for over 5 years during his time there he started several companies which helped him to pave the way to an international career. As part of the QIPC-EAE team he joined forces end 2014 with over 9 years’ experience in the Asian market he is the perfect fit for the role. He leads a team of engineers and locally based agents that collaborate with our clients in the region. His focus on marketing and driving sales for fluid dispensing throughout South-America, Africa & Asia. He develops and oversees new key accounts in addition to maintaining existing partnerships.

Head of Digital, The Tiso Blackstar Group (former: Times Media Group), South Africa & Vice-President, WAN-IFRA

Lisa MacLeod is Head of Digital at Tiso Blackstar Group, South Africa’s largest English-language publisher, and owner of 8 newspapers, 15 websites, music, film and radio businesses across the continent.  Her role is to lead digital strategy and innovation, and manage Tiso Blackstar’s online properties with 6-million unique browsers monthly on titles such as TimesLIVE, SowetanLIVE and BusinessLIVE, as well as implement sustainable digital monetisation streams.

Lisa was previously General Manager of Digital for Media24’s 24.com in Cape Town, and prior to that spent 12 years in London at the Financial Times, helping to drive their print to digital integration. She served as Head of Operations for FT.com, widely thought to be the most successful paid website in the media industry, and FT Managing Editor, overseeing staffing, strategic planning and budgets for the FT globally.

She has been on the board of the World Editors Forum for many years, and has taught and spoken at numerous international conferences and training events for WAN-IFRA and the WEF.

Deputy MD & CEO, DB Corp, India.

Mr. Pawan Agarwal, 42, is the Deputy Managing Director, D B Corp Ltd. (Dainik Bhaskar Group) and has been the member of the Board since inception.

Dainik Bhaskar Group (D B Corp Ltd) started its journey in the year 1958 with its flagship Hindi language Newspaper brand “Dainik Bhaskar” foraying in the state of Madhya Pradesh, today has  presence in 13 States with 65 Editions, FM Radio with presence in 7 states with 30 stations and digital business with presence of 13 portals for rapidly expanding digital audiences and 2 actively downloaded applications Dainik Bhaskar and Divya Bhaskar mobile app.

D B Corp is the only Newspaper Group which has presence in 13 states, in 4 different languages namely Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and English. Its Hindi language newspaper brand “Dainik Bhaskar” is present in 12 states with 44 editions, Gujarati language newspaper “Divya Bhaskar” is present in 2 states with 9 editions, “Divya Marathi” its Marathi language newspaper is present in 1 state with 6 editions. It’s noteworthy other newspaper brands includes Saurashtra Samachar, DB Star and DB Post.

 Mr. Pawan Agarwal heads entire production and information and technology department of Dainik Bhaskar (D B Corp Ltd). He also heads the Radio & Digital Media Business. He is an award recipient from the Prime Minister of India for contribution to Indian Language Journalism.

 An Industrial Engineering graduate from Purdue University, Indiana, USA, Pawan Agarwal is credited with conceptualization and leading the acclaimed Twin-Contact-strategy for launch of Newspapers in the country.  This strategy broke many myths in the Print category and is one of the main drivers helping Dainik Bhaskar Group unparallel growth.  It is considered as an Orbit-breaking innovation and was awarded Marico Foundation Innovation award for Business Process Innovation.  This strategy implemented for the launch of Divya Bhaskar; Groups Gujarati newspaper in 2003 is also a case study at IIM Ahmedabad. 

CEO, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Limited

Chief Operating Officer, WAN-IFRA, Germany

Thomas Jacob was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of WAN-IFRA in 2012. In this role, he has responsibilities for developing and implementing the organizations strategy to be the platform for exchange of ideas, information and experiences among the global news publishing industry. Prior to that he was the Deputy CEO, taking care of the regional operations.

Before WAN-IFRA, he worked for DMG Media, publisher of Daily Mail and Metro in UK. As the International Development Director, he identified and evaluated digital media companies in Asia for potential acquisition. He also conceptualized and launched a compact midmarket newspaper, Mail Today for the Indian market as a JV with the India Today Group.

Thomas Jacob is an MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. As a summa cum laude, he is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an honor society for management in the United States. 

He is a trained engineer in electronics and telecommunications, having graduated with distinction from the National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, in India. He also underwent advanced studies in computer networking at ICIS, Singapore.

Editor-in-Chief, The Straits Times & SPH's English/Malay/Tamil Media Group

Warren Fernandez joined the paper in 1990 as a political reporter and rose to become News Editor. He later also served as Foreign Editor and Deputy Editor.
He left to join Royal Dutch Shell in 2008 as a Global Manager for its Future Energy project, before returning to the paper in February 2012 as its editor. He assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief of Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) English/Malay/Tamil Media group (EMTM) from July 2016.
He graduated with First Class Honours from Oxford University, where he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and also has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Prabhu Natrajan is a Printing Technologist, graduated from Anna university, Chennai. He is a expertise in Newspaper Production and with 10 years of technical experience from THE TIMES OF INDIA.

At Present he is with WAN-IFRA and he is a project manager for International color quality competition and also responsible for activities of Research and Material Testing Center (RMTC) owned by WAN-IFRA. RMTC offers newsprint and news ink testing, print quality evaluation, Press simulator training, ISO 12647-3 certification.  

COO - Newspaper Group, TechNova, India.

Amit Khurana is heading Newspaper Sales for TechNova Imaging System ℗ Ltd.

He has been associated with TechNova for 11 years. Amit is a Printing technologist with an MBA having rich experience & deep understanding of the Newspaper Industry. 

Starting his career on the shop floor handling press operations, Amit has also worked in the Printing Ink Industry before joining TechNova family. 

Manager - IT-Prepress, THG

1998 – till now Working in the The Hindu Group across branches in Hyderabad, Kochi in Electronics Dept and now in Coimbatore in the IT pre-press.

1997-1998 Worked as a System hardware and network engineer in Init Systems, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu  troubleshooting Servers,Systems and Printers.

1995-1997 Worked as a System hardware engineer in PSG college of technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu troubleshooting PC, PC-XT.

Over 26 years of experience in Paints, Inks, Paper, Packaging and Printing.

• Worked on lighter GSM Newsprint development,

• Specialty ink development including UV ink, Metallic ink, Fluorescent ink, Pearlescent ink, Encapsulated Fragrance ink.

• Worked on development of various Fount solutions Mild acidic, Neutral pH.

• Highly interested to work on Eco friendly VOC free Inks, Herbal Fount Solutions and Eco-friendly Washes.

Chief Manager - Electrical, BCCL

Industrial Exposure: Over 20-Years of experience in various kind of printing machinery i.e. Screen Printing, Rotogravure Printing, Offset Printing machines.

1. Worked on UV Lacquer based Screen Printing Machine for Optical Media & developed soft-logic to control Solid State UV Ballast.

2. Developed High Voltage Corona Treater for Poly-Treatment process for rotogravure & poly-Extrusion machines.

3. Hands-on experience on SMD & THT based Industrial repair and service of different kind of industrial equipment’s i.e. Servo Drives, PLC, VFD etc.

4. Worked on complete retrofit of Logic Control & Motion Control for manroland offset Printing Machine.

5. Worked on 2 X 2500KVA Static UPS installation with 2V–VRLA Type 3000 No. of batteries installation.

Head-NPD & Business Development, Shanthi Gears

Mr. Mahendran did his B.E. mechanical engineering under Madras University, MBA in operations management under IGNOU and recently completed M.Tech. Design Engineering in BITS-Pilani. He has over 20 years of experience in engineering field- with core competency in Industry specific and customized Gearbox design and development. He has worked in the area of Industrial, Windmill, Railway, Marine, Power and High speed gearboxes. He led Engineering, R&D and NPD teams of renowned Indian Gear companies starting from Shanthi Gears, PP rolling Mills, Suzlon Wind Energy Ltd., Kirloskar Transmissions and now again with Shanthi Gears.

Being part of INR 369 Billion Murugappa Group –Shanthi Gears manufactures gears and Gearboxes from a few grams to more than 40 tonnes. The Product range spans across a wide spectrum, from Textile Loom gears to Aviation, from standard gears to custom-made gears for all Applications, from simple Worm gear boxes to complex Planetary helical / bevel helical gear boxes. My educational background includes a BE Printing from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Professionally, my job profile has enabled me to be associated with print production in ABP Pvt Ltd for 18 years . During my work tenure, I have extensive working experience in Goss Urbanite, Goss Universal , Hiline Cityline and Wifag printing machines as well as CtP and pre press workflow. Myself is also involved in quality improvement and process improvement across different print locations of ABP. Outside of work, I am also an avid sports lover, foodie and a travel enthusiast.

Chief Product Officer, Xperian

65000+ hours of experience design, 150+ products and 400 master classes. Karthi is a Chief Product Officer in Xperian, an ecosystem for creative problem solvers. A technologist turned into a multidisciplinary product designer and design educator focused on human cognition and behaviors. Her work focuses on designing meaningful systems with an emphasis on experience design. Before starting out into products world, Karthi designed printers for Hewlett Packard, Payment systems for State farm Insurance, Dashboards for World Bank, Pocket PC applications for Microsoft and many more. Karthi had a 7-year stint of entrepreneurship by running a premium design consulting agency called Oghma. Karthi earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and a Masters in Human-Computer Interaction from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and also an Executive MBA from Product Leadership.

Deputy Director, World Printers Forum, WAN-IFRA, Germany

Responsible for WAN-IFRA’s World Printers Forum and IFRA/DCX Expo, Sabine is a marketing and media expert, especially in the newspaper industry, with a focus on applications, innovations and creativity in the printed product. She studied marketing and psychology. At manroland press manufacturer, she was responsible for marketing newspaper and digital presses for many years. She has been consulting the newspaper and publishing industry worldwide, also as a freelance consultant, and earned an excellent reputation.

Chief Technology Officer, Distribution Innovation, Norway

Mr. Frode Finnes Larsen is CTO at Distribution Innovation AS, a Schibsted Media Group and Amedia company. He started his career as a rocket scientist at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. He is an experienced speaker and has 20 years' experience with technology management, innovation and transformation. He also advises startups and is currently advising a global drone/UAV company. Since its start in 2001, Distribution Innovation has digitized the whole distribution value chain of the media companies. Not only for its owners, but has over 90% of the market in Norway and Sweden, near half of the market in Finland and is expanding to Europe. Their software is used by thousands of carriers every night. Distribution Innovation is behind morgenlevering.no utilizing the last-mile distribution to overnight deliveries of food and breakfasts. And has created solution to send parcels from the front door through the last-mile network or integrations to online shops. Distribution Innovation is doing business development in relationship with customers, enabling their business with new technology like machine learning, IoT/smart mailboxes and blockchain. During Mr. Larsen time at Distribution Innovation, he and his colleagues have launched Europe's first voice service with payment, built the first blockchain-based logistics platform in the Nordics, started with digital locks, deployed secure delivery boxes and moved into the cloud. Mr. Larsen has studied electrical engineering and a masters of management.

I am Deputy Manager in sales administration department of The Asahi Shimbun. Our headquarters are in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Sapporo Japan. We are celebrating the 140th anniversary of our company this year. Currently, we publish and distribute 5.5million copies of papers every day. I’ve been working for The Asahi for 26 years and my main role has been to support distributors in terms of business operation and management. I hope to acquire new knowledge about newspaper industry in your country.
