Print Innovation Awards

The Print Innovation Awards competition identifies the world’s most innovative print advertisings and products of newspaper and magazine publishers.

The annual competition is open for newspaper and magazine publishers as well as for advertisers or advertising agencies.

An international jury of experts will assess the projects submitted. Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes will be awarded in each category.

What makes the Print Innovation Awards competition unique and why should you participate?

  • The Print Innovation Awards competition focuses exclusively on print innovation. There are many media awards, but the Print Innovation Awards have a clear print focus.
  • The Print Innovation Awards are a worldwide competition. There are many national or regional awards, but no other worldwide competition.
  • Participation in the Print Innovation Awards is simple, quick and affordable.
  • Successful projects will receive international recognition, they will be presented on stage, in print and at international events.

  • ADVERTISING INNOVATION - Innovative advertisings or advertising campaigns in print or in combination of print and digital. This includes technical innovations, innovations in the use and combination of materials, and innovative advertising formats. Innovative advertising typically addresses multiple senses, stimulates response and interaction, and creates surprise effects.

  • PRODUCT INNOVATION - Product innovations enrich existing products. They typically address new audiences, extend the brand, attract new advertisers, or enable new business models.

  • SPECIAL EDITIONS - Special editions of periodicals usually focus on major events in a region by targeting a specific topic. They may also target special needs, such as self-promotion, customer groups or topics that are relevant for a specific date, as with an anniversary.

  • PRODUCTS FOR YOUNG READERS - Print products are very attarctive for the young audience. Products for young readers offer special topics and cover the general news in a way that young readers can better understand. These kind of products can help developing the reader base of the future.

  • AUDIENCE INNOVATION - Publishers are always looking for new audiences. This category rewards the most successful campaigns that engage with new audience groups in innovative ways.

  • SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION - Newspaper publishing houses, like other companies, have an increasing need to be more sustainable in their production as well as everyday operations. In this category, we are looking for innovative ways to be more sustainable both in general operations as well as newspaper production. We are looking for companies that lead by example and are determined to make the world a better place.

International Color Quality Club

The International Color Quality Club (ICQC) is the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers and magazines. Its goal is to improve the quality of reproduction and printing, while also increasing competitiveness as well as training and motivating all personnel. The competition has been held every two years since 1994.

Publications that participate with success are awarded membership in the exclusive club of top-quality titles. Multiple winners and participants in the WAN-IFRA certification project also have the prospect of being awarded membership of the Star Club.

Publishers and printers can register one or more publication titles for the competition, regardless of the printing technology. Five technical categories cover all possibilities.

More information can be found here.

Winners in both competitions will be recognized in an awards ceremony at the Summit’s Printers Night, Tuesday, 6 October, 18:00-21:00 at the Klassikstadt.
