    Danie Pauw is the Managing Director at Health24, South Africa´s leading digital consumer health company. 

    Pauw, a doctor himself, stablished Health24 back in November 2000, a majority stake was sold to Media24, a leading publishing compnay in the Naspers Group. 

    Rapidly it becomes the South Africa´s largest consumer health and lifestyle website with 1.2 million unique browsers pm. 

    Health24 content is educational, relevant, and medically reviewed. It is accessible and trustworthy, and is designed to enable readers to make informed decisions about their health. Health24 is intended for a general audience. Each month, around 2 million individual people visit the website.

    As an interactive graphics journalist at The Straits Times, Rebecca is part of a team of designers and developers who are pushing the boundaries of digital journalism - from data visualisation to virtual reality - anything is possible.   While studying journalism back in Australia, she voluntarily worked on various data projects for Sydney’s flagship newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald. After moving to Singapore in 2013, she worked in digital publishing before joining the ST Digital desk in 2015.

    Torry Pedersen is  Head of Editorial, and a member of Schibsted Media's top management team. Prior to his current position he was the CEO/Editor in Chief of Verdens Gang AS, Norway’s most read news-site/newspaper. He started his career as a journalist in Fredrikstad Blad 1981, and has more than 30 years of experience in journalism and publishing. Pedersen has been Managing Editor in VG, Editor in Chief/Publisher in VG Multimedia AS, CEO of Verdens Gang AS and from 2011 both CEO and Editor in Chief of Verdens Gang AS. Pedersen was educated at the Norwegian School of Management (former Bedriftsøkonomisk Institutt), Oslo 1979 and he holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. He has been awarded the "Chief Editor of the Year Award" in Norway, and during his time as Editor in Chief and CEO, Verdens Gangs has won several prices.

    VGs news-sites on desktop, mobile, tablet and traditional paper, has coverage of nearly 2, 4 million daily readers, and VGs is among the most profitable news organisations in Europe.

  • Chief Executive Officer, Guardian Media Group, United Kingdom

    David Pemsel was appointed CEO, Guardian Media Group (GMG) in July 2015 with responsibility for leading GMG’s commercial and financial business strategy.

    In addition he is Chairman of GMG Ventures, a $50m fund making early stage investments in innovative businesses in the media technology sector. He is also a member of The Scott Trust, the ultimate owner of The Guardian.  

    David joined Guardian News & Media (GNM) in 2011 and was appointed chief commercial officer in 2012. A year later he took on increased accountability for the GNM business in the newly-created role of deputy chief executive, with responsibility for leading commercial operations in the UK, the US and Australia, and integrating them as one global organisation.

    Prior to joining GNM, David worked in many senior roles within the media industry, including launching Shine Entertainment in 2000, before becoming Group Marketing Director of ITV plc in 2005. 

    David is a non-executive director of The British Fashion Council, a voting member of BAFTA and a Council member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain.

    Stephane Pere is Chief Data Officer (Global) for The Economist businesses. Since october 2013, his mission is to Elevate & Protect Data as a corporate asset, Leverage Data as revenue driver for the Circulation and Media Businesses as well as Explore the potential unlocked by Big Data.

    He joined The Economist Paris office in 2007 to manage online advertising sales for Continental Europe, Middle-East & Africa. In 2010 he moved to New York to launch Ideas People Media (a vertical digital ad network that enables marketers to reach Thought leaders at scale trough an alliance of +60 high quality news publications). Additionally from 2012, he was the Head of Digital Advertising Sales and Agency Solutions for Americas.

    Prior to joining The Economist, Stephane Pere had a diverse career within the advertising industry, which included managing online display advertising for Yahoo!, heading a TV and Print network for Canal+, and working with Bloomberg Television in international ad sales.

    He holds a Masters in Management Science from E.M. Lyon Business School, as well as a Post Graduate Master in Intellectual Property Law and a Masters in Contract and Business Law both from Pantheon-Assas University in Paris.

    Nicolás has more than fifteen years of experience in developing new media. For a decade he led the digital strategy of  El Universo de Ecuador media group. Today he advises media companies in digital development and strategy for their audiences.

    Carlos Pérez Barriga, 51, has been Director of Daily El Universo since 2003. Previously he was newsroom manager and head of the Art Department of the newspaper. 

  • Professor, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway

    Andrew Perkis received his Siv.Ing and Dr. Techn. Degrees in 1985 and 1994, respectively. In 2008 he received an executive Master of Technology Management in cooperation from NTNU, NHH and NUS (Singapore). He has been with NTNU since 1993 and currently holds a chair within Media Technology. His current research focus is within methods and functionality of content representation, quality assessment and its use within the media value chain in a variety of applications and change management, business modelling for the media sector and Digital Storytelling and the associate tools for this. He was one of the founding authors of the concept of Universal Multimedia Access (UMA) and Quality of Experience (QoE). He is also involved in setting up directions and visions for new research within media technology and entertainment as well as directions for innovations in Immersive Media Technology Experiences. He is member of The Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences (NTVA), senior member of the IEEE, member of ACM, member of The Norwegian Society of Chartered Engineers, Board member of WAN-IFRA Global Alianace for Media innovation (GAMI) and member of the New European Media (NEM) executive committee.

    Julio is a journalist. Currently, he is the Managing Editor of La Voz del Interior. Also, he  is a digital journalism professor and a career counsellor of Communication at Universidad Blas Pascal (Córdoba)He co-wrote the book “Disruptive journalism”. He writes in the “Periodismo Líquido”.

    Elena Perotti is Executive Director of Media Policy and Public Affairs at WAN-IFRA, the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers. She is responsible for identifying and studying major public affairs issues within the news industry, authoring reports and articles, animating debate on social media, and educating staff and stakeholders. Elena is also in charge of interaction and liaison with WAN-IFRA’s governing boards, national and regional member associations, and with many international bodies. She holds a Masters of Law in International Law and is experienced in media policy, senior management, global event organisation, and public relations.

    Byron Perry is the Founder and CEO of Coconuts Media, an online news publisher reaching up to 26 million people per month.     The Coconuts.co network of city news websites was launched in 2011 and now runs in Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, KL, Jakarta, Bali and Yangon, receiving up to 4.2 million monthly unique visitors.    Under the Coconuts TV brand, the company produces original documentaries exploring the weird and wondrous stories of Asia, which have been sold to Netflix, iflix, Fusion (USA), RTL (Germany), and ABS-CBN (Philippines).   Byron previously worked at Variety magazine in Los Angeles and attended Georgetown University in Washington DC. He is a board member of the Society of Publishers in Asia.

    Samantha Perry has worked both as a journalist and PR professional in a consultancy and full-time capacity over the past 20 years. As a journalist, she covered the ICT sector for the likes of Computing SA (editor), ComputerWeek, and Brainstorm magazine (editor). In her capacity as a PR professional and consultant she has worked with listed and multinational organisations such as Striata, Google, Telkom, MTN and Dimension Data. She has a Masters degree in ICT Policy and Regulation and runs an initiative called WomeninTechZA, which aims to bridge the gender diversity gap in the tech sector.

    Nick helps leads the Times and Sunday Times digital strategy team who cover a range of specialist output for the two titles. From multimedia and podcasts through to audience development, an award winning computational data investigations team and a newsroom based development team they guide the titles forward as they expand their digital operation.    He was previously at The Telegraph and the Guardian and co-founded WannabeHacks.co.uk
  • SVP of Product Development and Operations, RBS Group, Brazil

    Andiara Petterle is an entrepreneur and executive of the digital market since 1998. Currently, she is senior vice-president of Product Development and Operations at Grupo RBS. Previously she was vice president Newspapers and Digital Media for the same group. Before joining RBS, Petterle was the Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at e.Bricks, RBS’s investment company focused on the digital industry. At e.Bricks, she acted as an advisor to several technology, e-commerce and media companies. She founded Grupo Bolsa de Mulher, one of the largest women's digital media companies in Latin America, and was CEO of Predicta and other digital companies in the country. Petterle has a bachelor and a master’s degree in Social Communications from PUC-RJ, was an invited researcher at Brown University, and has participated in business training programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

  • Assistant Professor, Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo, Norway

    Dr. Lene Pettersen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo, Norway, yet lectures at several academic institutions in Norway. She researchs and writes about strategy, digital economy, internal communication, public relations, social media, social enterprise media, business models in the new media landscape, privacy, collaboration, the sharing economy, interaction design, universal design, artificial intelligence, amongst others. Pettersen has presented her work at several international conferences and published her work in recognized academic journals.

    Pettersen hold a Cand. Polit. degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Oslo, Norway (2000), and a PhD in Business and Economics with her specialization in Strategic Management from BI Norwegian Business School (2015). Her doctoral research concerned social enterprise media for internal collaboration in a multinational organization located in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

    Pettersen has ten years’ work experience from the industry and the Norwegian public sector where she worked with topics related to the triangle communication, concept development/technology and strategy.

    Peyrègne took up duties as Chief Executive Officer of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) on 1 October 2012. Prior to joining WAN-IFRA, since the end of 2008 he worked in the office of the French minister of Culture and Communication where he was responsible for newspapers and new media as well as the “états généraux de la presse écrite,” the French government’s response to the economic difficulties facing the newspaper industry. From 2004 to 2008 he was head of development at Edipresse Publications SA in Lausanne, with responsibility for reader studies and marketing research.

Pfeiffer is a frequent speaker at international events for the publishing and media community, and his insights have been quoted in newspapers and magazines such as the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune and Wired.

    Asha Phillips leads partnerships for CrowdTangle in Asia Pacific and India, based in Singapore. CrowdTangle was acquired by Facebook in late 2016 and is a leading social analytics and discovery platform used by hundreds of newsrooms around the world. Asha has spent the past decade working in news and media throughout Asia – she started her career in broadcast news in Australia before becoming one of the pioneering editors at Storyful, the first global social media news wire, which was acquired by News Corporation in 2014.

    Francesco Piccinini is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Fanpage.it. He started his professional career as director of AgoraVox Italia and served as digital manager at Caltagirone Editore. Born in 1981, Piccinini studied communication and information sciences and obtained a doctorate from the University of Paris VIII. He lectured in brand strategy and communication at the Ecole Superieure de Gestion in Paris.      
  • Research Associate, Harvard Business School and Oxford University, United Kingdom

    As a Research Associate at Harvard Business School in the United States, he studies technology-enabled disruption patterns across industries, including news media.  A 2016 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, Piechota explored the transformation of the media business and the future of work in creative industries.
    In addition, Piechota serves as a digital strategy adviser for Poland’s Gazeta Wyborcza (Agora) and consults with media companies worldwide. He is a member of the INMA Board of Directors and is a past president of INMA’s Europe Division.
    Piechota is an editor and news media executive with 20 years of experience. He began his career at Poland’s Gazeta Wyborcza (Agora) as a reporter rising to a news editor and a vice-president of Agora Foundation.
    Piechota graduated in law. He is married with two small children. He is based in Warsaw and Cambridge, Massachusetts.

    As a researcher at University of Oxford (UK) and Harvard Business School (USA), Grzegorz Piechota studies technology-enabled disruption patterns across industries, including news media. His research work at the HBS focuses on digital business model innovations. His project at Oxford's Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism examines the impact of digital platforms on paid content models of news organisations. Piechota is an editor and news media executive with 20+ years of industry experience. He began his career at Poland's Gazeta Wyborcza in 1996 as a reporter in one of the smallest local offices rising to a news editor and a vice-president of Agora Foundation. His recently published research reports include "Evaluating Distributed Content in the News Media Ecosystem” (INMA, April 2016), "The Facebook-Media Relationship Status: It's Complicated" (INMA, October 2016), and “Reality check: making money with Facebook. The digital business strategy of news publishers” (WAN-IFRA, September 2017). Piechota graduated in law and lives in England.
