    Johnny Ryan
    Dr. Johnny Ryan is Head of Ecosystem at PageFair, working to sustain online publishing and respond to the growing phenomenon of adblocking. Previously he was Executive Director of The Innovation Academy, and Chief Innovation Officer of The Irish Times, where he established a multi-million euro Big Data programme, and introduced startups inside the 154 year old newspaper. He has a PhD from the University of Cambridge, and was an associate on the emerging digital environment at the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge from 2011-14. His second book "A History of the Internet and the Digital Future" is on the reading list at Harvard and Stanford.

Previously, he was VP-R&D focussing on AI and automation at Ninestars, a digitization company. While at Wipro Technologies, he co-conceptualized HOLMES AI platform in 2014, a pioneering initiative among the top IT services companies in India. He was the head of engineering of its flagship program - HOLMES EKYC. He also brings a wealth of experience in multiple domains across Banking, Capital Markets and Media. Parankusha has a Master’s degree in Management from I.I.M Lucknow and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science & Engineering from N.I.T Jamshedpur.

    Rana Sabbagh

    Rana Sabbagh is executive director at Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) – the region’s leading media support network spreading the culture of “accountability journalism” in nine Arab states since 2005.

    She has dedicated the last 33 years of her career as journalist, columnist and media trainer to promote free speech, independent media, “accountability journalism” and human rights.

    As former chief editor of the Jordan Times (1999-Jan 2002), she became the first Arab female in the history of the Levant to run a daily political newspaper. She is a former correspondent for Reuters International News Agency and The Times (London) and helped establish Jordan’s latest independent newspaper, Al-Ghad.

    Guillaume Sachet is the Head of Strategic Planning at MediaCorp, where he drives group strategy, corporate development and innovation including mentoring startups in MediaCorp’s Mediapreneur incubator program. Currently, he sits on the board of Cubinet Interactive, a Malaysian digital games publisher, in which MediaCorp has a majority stake.

    He has 20 years of experience in the media and telecom industry. Prior to joining MediaCorp in May 2012, Guillaume was a Partner with the strategy practice of the consulting firm, Accenture, responsible for Communications, Media and Technology strategy clients across Southeast Asia. Over the years, he has developed deep media and telecom industry knowledge and expertise across the APAC region.

    Carlos Salas

    Carlos is a journalist graduated in the Peruvian University of Applied Science. He started working in El Comercio in 1997, first in the area of Community Expansion and then in Sports. Since 2006 it was editor and in 2014 took over the responsibility of this section both for digital and print.

    In 2009 was founder professor of the first Degree in Sport Journalism in Peru, in the San Ignacio de Loyola Institute. He has been teaching for more than 7 years.

    Lena K. Samuelsson

    Lena K. Samuelsson joined the group management team of Schibsted Media Group in September 2013. Samuelsson is a journalist and was during the 12 years prior to joining the group management team the editor-in-cheif of Svenska Dagbladet in Stockholm, a leading quality and business daily. 
    She also worked at Aftonbladet for many years and serves on several boards such as Schibsted Norway, Hitta.se and 20 Minutos in Spain.

    Juan Luis Sánchez

    Juan Luis Sánchez is a journalist specialised in new media and digital content. He is cofounder and deputy director of eldiario.es, an independent digital news site financed by an innovative system of members and donors. Founded in 2012, eldiario.es has became a key news site with high influence in Spain. He masters multimedia skills that has used as a reporter in India, Kosovo, Sahara or Turkey. He is also cofounder of another innovative digital media outlet in Spanish “Periodismo Humano”.

    Matthew Sanders

    Matt is Senior Director at Deseret Digital Media and General Manager of Publisher Solutions, where he oversees BrandForge syndicated and native ad content studio, Deseret Connect contributor service, and DDM Academy digital transformation training services. His organization develops technology, and delivers news media and advertising for Deseret Digital Media group websites in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Indonesian languages. A mix of full-time employees, contractors and developers numbering more than 6500 combined, delivers more than 50 million page views to the media group per month, as well as content studio syndication and branded content services to more than 450 publishers worldwide. 

    Mr. Sanders joined Deseret Digital Media in June of 2010. DDM is the largest media enterprise in the U.S. intermountain west and one of the fastest growing globally.

    Matt serves on the board of directors, and as Vice President of the Inter-American Press Association, which involves the owners and leaders of major news media organizations throughout Latin America.

    Igor Sanjevic has journalistic experience as reporter in the Serbian Broadcasting Network (RTS), as news producer at Fox TV (Newscorp) in Serbia, and at Prva TV. He has wide-ranging connections with professionals in public and government sectors in Serbia, and is a proficient user of communication systems.

    In 2006, Igor Sanjevic began working as the editor-in-chief at Fox News television in Serbia, and then at Prva TV. He has also been working as the CEO Adviser for the news programs at B92. In N1 TV (CNN affiliate), he has worked as executive producer of program content. Igor Sanjevic is a producer of numerous promotional campaigns: for Ministry of Labor in 2013, for scientific center in Svilajnac, and Dino Park in Belgrade. Currently he is the Director of Video Production in Adria Media Group.

    Mariana Santos is a Portuguese girl who wants to change the world - and is working on it right now.

    She founded Chicas Poderosas, a non-profit organization that aims to bring more women into technology, started in Latin America, back in 2013. Today she runs it full time with her co-director Vicki Hammarstedt and a board of directors, experts in the different areas of journalism, entrepreneurship, business, innovation and design thinking. Former infographics editor at Olympic Committee Rio 2016, former director of Interactive and animation at Fusion Media. Knight Innovation Chair at Florida International University in 2015-16. JSK Knight fellow at Stanford 2015 and Knight International Journalism Fellow 2013-14 working all across Latin America in major newsrooms and with independent journalists. Mariana Santos is a visual storyteller, who did groundbreaking work as a member of the interactive team at The Guardian in London. A trained animator, she pioneered the newsroom’s use of motion graphics to make data stories more compelling. She leads design thinking workshops to increase multidisciplinary approach to storytelling, and she is a leader in community transformation via digital training.

  • President of the Republic of Colombia

    Born in Bogota on August 10, 1951. He was a cadet at the Navy Academy in Cartagena; he studied Economics and Business Administration and carried out graduate studies at the London School of Economics, Harvard University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

    He was Chief of the Colombian delegation before the International Coffee Organization (ICO) in London; he was the most recent Designate to the Presidency and Colombia’s first Foreign Trade Minister. He has also been Finance Minister and National Defense Minister. During this last position, he was in charge of leading the implementation of the government’s Democratic Security Policy.

    He created the Good Government Foundation (Fundación Buen Gobierno) and founded the political party Partido de la U in the year 2005, currently Colombia’s largest political party.

    As a journalist he was a columnist and Deputy Director of the newspaper El Tiempo, he was awarded the King of Spain Prize and was president of the Freedom of Expression Commission for the Inter American Press Association (IAPA). He has published several books, among which the most significant are The Third Way, co-written with the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Check on Terror (Jaque al Terror), where he describes the most important actions against the Farc terrorist group during his tenure as head of the Ministry of Defense.

    On June 20, 2010, (after obtaining the largest vote during the first round of the presidential elections which took place on May 30 of the same year) at the second round of the presidential elections, he was elected President of the Republic of Colombia for the four year period between August 7th, 2010 and August 7th, 2014. He obtained more than 9 million votes, the highest amount obtained by any candidate in the history of Colombian democracy.

    During his campaign, he promised to lead a government of national unity that would carry out the transition from Democratic Security to Democratic Prosperity.

    On June 15, 2014, in the second round and with more than 7.8 million votes, he was reelected as President of the Republic for the 2014 - 2018 constitutional term with a government plan based on three pillars: Peace, Equity and Education.
    President Santos is married to María Clemencia Rodríguez, with whom he has three children: Martín, María Antonia and Esteban.

    Dushyant Sapre is Criteo’s Acting Commercial Director for India and the Business Development Director for Australia, India and Southeast Asia. As the Commercial Director for India, he advises large ecommerce and online travel firms on how to drive more sales using the predictive engine technology of Criteo. As Business Development Director, Dushyant advises leading digital publishers on ways to navigate through the fast changing digital landscape and keep the content free for users via digital advertising.

    Jenni Sargent is the Managing Director of First Draft News  an organisation set up in 2015 to provide guidance and training for journalists in social newsgathering and verification. In September 2016, she coordinated and launched the First Draft Partner Network, the first initiative of its kind to bring together global newsrooms and social networks to collaborate on tackling common issues relating to sourcing and reporting online information. Jenni is also a director of Eyewitness Media Hub and part of a research team responsible for exploring the impact of media attention on eyewitnesses who have shared their images online. Previously she founded Digital Skills Network, a digital training company that developed resources for newsrooms and NGOs.
